Language Explosion...and Oh My, Am I Behind! (April 24)

James is a big talker (as both of his brothers were...never a moment's quiet in this house!), but he's been amazing us all with his sudden vocabulary explosion this week.  Instead of the one or two new words a day that we'd been hearing, this week, he's been adding words to his spoken vocabulary at a rate of six or seven a day!

I keep thinking I ought to make a list of the words he can say for his baby book, but I haven't managed that yet.  However, I AM going to write this list of his new-yesterday-and-today words here as a start.

Yesterday, during a trip to the park, he added to his usual bird vocabulary ("quack quack" - the little guy absolutely adores ducks and geese) by starting to say "duck", "geese", and "honk"!  Throughout the remainder of the day, he also added bubbles, please, stinky, and doggy to his list of understandable spoken words.  He's also been working hard to say Joshua, his new little cousin's name.

Today's new additions to his spoken vocabulary were "tickle", "stuck", "balloon", "that", and "bird".  Several times, he also used an approximation that we think is meant to be "thank you", but it's not yet clear enough to understand for sure.

Of course, his favorite words are still no, stop, and mine...oh, the joys of toddler-hood!

I've got lots of other new posts coming soon - I knew I'd fallen behind, but didn't realize that I hadn't posted ANYTHING since March 6.  I've been working hard at uploading pictures and getting them into drafts here ever since we got the last of the boys into bed tonight and I'll try to get them finished up and actually posted very soon!

My 13 month old, Peanut loves to "talk" but it mainly baby chatter. She can, however, say Dada (not mama), no and her older sister's name (well, a version of it anyway!). I know as mother's we always want our children to talk and then we spend many years telling them to be quiet!! She also loves dogs - they seem to fascinate her! And being outside, but she'll take just looking out the window if it's too cold. Here in WI, winter will not let go of it's icy grip :( Anyway, cute pictures. How are you able to have so many posted? I'm a little tech-challenged!

Fun! I was always thankful that my two were big talkers too. They always got to a point where I could barely keep up with all the new words they were learning.
