Though the sorrow may last for the night, JOY comes in the morning

I'm going to wake up soon and this will all have been just a really bad dream. This is just one of those types of nightmares that make you not want to fall asleep again.
You see, my dad was killed Sunday night. My Hero is gone.
I was woken up at around 3:00am Monday morning by someone pounding on the front door. Jordan jumped up to see what was going on and she met Mom is the hall. I was a little out of it at the moment, drifting in and out of sleep. I sat up and herd mom yell in horror and I took off to the Living room. This could not be good.
A State trooper was at the front door and he asked Mom if she had a son named Elgin Lirette, that he had been killed in a really bad truck accident. I thought, No! Not my brother! Not Bubba. He has six kids. Not my only brother. It would devastate mom to have to have the memory that one of her children were killed on Mother's Day.
So the State trooper gave mom a phone number to call for more info and when she called she asked where he was at when the accident happened. She was told that he was delivering a load to the Port Fourchon. She was thinking, wait, Elgin's not a truck driver. She told him that this couldn't be her son. So she asked him what year he was born in and he told her that he was born in 1956. She him that he wasn't her son, he was her husband.
When I herd her say that, everything just went black. It was my dad, my dad was killed in a accident. I wanted to scream so bad, but nothing would come out. My dad was dead...my dad couldn't be dead. It was a mistake, just like the mistake they made about my brother. This wasn't happening.
Mom talked to Dad at 7:00pm Sunday night, and he was in the wreck at 8:30pm. As most of ya'll know, he's a truck driver and he was bringing a load of stuff to the Fourchon and another pickup truck in the other lane went off the high-way and then over-compensated the other way and hit him head-on, the truck then split in half and exploded. My daddy was killed instantly. The other guy was also killed, so they are going through the same thing. Both trucks were in flames and both were burned beyond recognition, so we won't be able to see his body or have a open casket. Dad always said that he wanted to be cremated.
Yesterday while waiting for Bubba and Ryan to come and pick us up and bring us down to La., all of our friends came to be with us. I don't know what we would of done without them. Our friends from church were just wonderful, and our friends from our homefellowship group, well, I don't know what we would of done without them.
Daddy was a born again Christian. He loved God so much, so our huge comfort is that he is immensely enjoying heaven right now. One of my dear friends/sister reminded me of the words that God said to him, "Well done, my good and faithful servant. Enter into the joy of the Lord."

Please go and tell your dad how much you love him. Please go and tell him right now.

Dear Lirette family, we are so sorry for your loss...Your Dad was one of the best Dad's God ever put on this earth.. Such a kind and loving man and so strong for his family..He will be missed every day for the rest of our lives..
