Well, actually, its Tuesday, but yesterday WAS Monday, and what a Monday it was... Let me start by saying that on Sunday I closeted myself in my study and worked on ds's lesson plan. I did two weeks worth and its a pretty darn impressive piece of work! After taking care of math, language arts, spelling, history and the other classes that are covered in Further Up and Further In, I felt as though I had run a marathon. I even got some correspondence taken care of! Well, Monday rolled around and lo and behold, my dmil called at 6:15am to tell me that our dear aunt had died in her sleep. Dmil has been her primary care giver for aabout 4 years. We knew the end was near and so we were prepared, with the help of Hospice. So, I got up, showered and put on a nice warm dress, shawl and boots and walked to dmil's house (dh had just left for work). Aunty was in her hospital bed and looked for all the world, that she was sleeping peacefully. We waited til Hospice could come and get the all clear from the corinor (sp?) to have the funeral home come and remove her body. After taking care of some business and visiting with the pastor, I came home, with the intention of doing schooling with ds, but he was dressed and at his granny's house post haste. He saw her being removed from her room and taken to the hearse. He even helped the medical supply company break down her hospital bed and pick up her wheelchair. He handled everything so maturely! But needless to say, what with all the comings and goings, schoolwork was put on the way back burner! Today was a little better. We did some math, read some history and took a Spelling Power quiz. We were about to really get started when dd and dsil came over... School was OUT! We will only get a little done tomorrow as I have another funeral to attend at 1pm. I need to prepare string beans for the repast and get it over to the church. I think ds will stay home and do a few assignments, nothing major. TTFN |
