Hello to all who have happened upon my little blog site! I thought it would be nice to give a brief introduction to our little family before I get to the meat of what this blog will mostly consist of. I will post mainly about our day to day lives and our adventures in learning. I will also be blogging some of my thoughts about God as he reveals new things to me through scripture. I also hope that it will be a good way to keep my out of town family involved with our lives.
Our family consists of Mom, Dad, and three beautiful children. Kelsie Dee age 8, Dustin Wade age 6, and Wyatt Alan age 16 months at this writing. We have homeschooled since oldest dd was in preschool, so our children have never attended public school. I will write more in my next entry about our specific curriculum choices and beliefs on education. However I will tell you that we have been strongly influenced by Charlotte Mason's methods. I have applied alot of her teachings to our homeshool even though we do not follow a strict Charlotte Mason approach. I would highly recommend A Charlotte Mason Companion, Personal Reflections on The Gentle Art of Learning by Karen Andreola to anyone interested in this type of education. If you have not read this it is a must read!
We live on a very small farm in West Tennessee. We have 5 horses, lots of chickens and three dogs. We put in a garden this year for the first time as well. That was an experience for me! I have never done anything like that before, being raised mostly in California. My husband has done a good job of turning me into a regular Country Girl these past 10 years!
We attend Grace Baptist Church in Selmer TN. We have been so blessed to find such a wonderful church family. We started going to church there in february of 2002 and I gave my life to Christ in July of 2002. We have been there ever since. I'm sure I will post pictures and stories of all of our friends there soon.
Well, I guess that's about it. I hope that you will enjoy reading about our family and seeing the pictures that will be posted here.
God Bless
