“When we praise by an act of the will, by our own free choice, first we accept present circumstances, then we take up a positive position. By beginning to praise God for the evil, we take our less-than-good situation and plunge it into the photographer’s fluid-the Presence of God.
Even as the photographer has to wait while the chemicals in the solution do the developing work, we too have to wait-meanwhile continuing to praise-while the Spirit does the work. And as we wait and praise, often unable to see any change in exterior circumstances, we understand what Paul meant when he wrote, I am become a fool in glorying.”
