Yep, it's the little things.

Yea!

On October 24th HEB is opening a new Market (they call it a market) down the street from me and I’m so excited. (I’m so crazy! Especially since I hate grocery shopping.) I’ve been waiting forever. I was praying (honestly) for a Central Market and I got something very similar – a cross between a Central Market and a full sized grocery store…which I’m hoping means I won’t have to squeeze past folks just to grab a peach.

(If you aren’t from Texas, HEB Central Market is very similar to Whole Foods Market.)

Praise God for the little things!

The flyer I received said that on October 24th shopping will change FOREVER! I wonder if I get a refund if it doesn’t? I wonder how long they will keep it clean and tidy? I’m hoping that because it is in front of a very nice neighborhood that it will stay neat and tidy.

The truth is I really hope my shopping experience does change on that day because I’m tired of Kroger, and Randall’s is nice, but too expensive and Walmart well…I won’t go there.  And Target… well, they didn’t build me a Super Target so they only get half of my business.

The flyer also says that the new HEB will have a 7,000 sq. foot meat market, 400 varieties of cheese, 17 varieties of apples, 42 feet of seafood, 2,000 wines (not applicable), thousands of organics (another way for me to up my bill by another $100 or so – and I was really hoping to save money at this store, lol), an artisan bakery, and a European style deli (My mouth is watering already!).

Yesterday, Mark went into Randall’s for some peaches and came out with apples (as there were no peaches  ) and asked why we need 17 varieties of apples when it is hard enough to choose from the five or six varieties that are already offered. I’m not sure I know either…

But it sure sounds good. Apple Pie anyone?

blessings,

dani

I love our local HEB here (though Brandi has been complaining about the prices lately). There are actually quite a few HEB's in Waco, but the best one is just a few mins from our house. It sounds like the sort of store you're referring to. It's not a Central Market but they've got a lot of Central Market products. (By the way, it's not the HEB you and Mark stopped at when y'all visited a couple of years ago. That was probably the worst HEB in Waco.)

Walmart is cool, but only during the day! ;-)

I went to the new HEB yest. and it isn't like any HEB I've ever been to. It is...I don't even know how to describe it...like a cross between sams, walmart and central market. The fresh food section is amazing...and they have a cafe called Cafe on the Run that looked wonderful and healthy. It takes a lot to make me drool over food, and to come home and tell Mark to go back and buy me some...but the food in that case was fab. They had fresh salads, soups, and humus in several flavors, tortilla wraps, all kinds of pasta, and lots of other stuff. It was like a real deli - kind of like Buteras (I'm not sure I spelled that right or if you even know what I'm talking about as it isn't open anymore...but they were great.) Tell your mom and sis it is worth the drive to go there. But, I don't think I'll be saving any money there.

I do like that I can price the produce - it is nice to know exactly how much the produce costs without having to figure it out myself.

Yest. it was packed like I've never seen a grocery store packed...except Central Market...but unlike Central Market it wasn't as crazy...I got in and out without any hassel - and I didn't think I would - by the looks of the parking lot. Cars were parked all the way in back of the store. Police were directing traffic. It was crazy.

And they had peaches! (Praise God, because I've been craving them - course Caleb and Bess love peaches too...and they have already eaten half of them. :( I'm going to have to start hiding food as they eat it as fast as I buy it...and then I have nothing to eat.
