Ben

Posted in Family

Has it really been six months? Here he is at about 4 months.

P.S. This sling (the Peanut Shell) would be number one on my must have baby item list. Number two would be the matching nursing cover. I love them, love them, love them!

It is ABOUT time you posted a picture of Ben! Even if it is two months old.... :

Would you say that sling is like the New Native Baby Carrier? If not, what's the difference?

Donna, is that you? The answer is...I have no idea. I don't have a New Native Sling. I'll look it up when I have time and get back to you. :) It is a lot like a Hotsling. I have two of those. I like this one a little better - but the only difference is that it is roomier. Not as tight a fit for baby. Plus it has a pocket built in and it has a matching nursing cover. ;)

You are so like me, a collector of slings. :) Those two hotslings will come in handy when you have twins. :)

The New Native I've had since Owen and really like - it's just a loop of material - no rings - and babies fit very nice in it. Even toddlers can sit on your hip. But compared to the Ergo, which I use for the twins, it's not as comfy for mom's back.

Does the Peanut sling have cushioning or something? And is there a ring to tighten or loosen it?

I'm trying to think about what sling would be best for Joshua if we get him, because I want to carry him all day long, and although the Ergo is the best for your back, it's not as "snuggly" for the baby and doesn't promote bonding as well, I don't think.

Hey - they have some demo videos on YouTube showing your sling. It is like the New Native Baby Carrier except it looks like there's some padding in yours; is that right?

Yep. I think I have become a collector of slings. I love my slings! I even bought little ones for the girls. I hate the day when I have to give up my sling...and I don't even wear it very often - only when we are out and about. It is such a blessing and makes life so much easier. Last week I went to the zoo and was pushing my big stroller around and it was so much more difficult than using my sling.
Yes, my sling has padding on one side. I don't know if it makes that much difference, but it prob. makes it more comfy for the side ride. How old is Joshua? The slings work well for little ones, but I feel like they are harder to use as the child gets older/bigger. But, you are right they promote bonding. How do you wear two slings at once?

When the twins were newborns I just put them both in the New Native. When they got to be 3 months or so I wore two slings, one on each shoulder. When they were five months or so, big enough for the Ergo, I wore one Ergo on my back and one on my front - it works really well. I still wear both twins when we're out and about, although Owen wears Carson in the Ergo sometimes.

When will you find out if you will be getting Joshua?

You'll have to let me know how you figure out how to wear two ergos and a sling. ;)

I'm still praying about him.

You still amaze me. You will have to write a book about all this some day. ;)

Me write a book? That would be a best-seller! ;)

Jimmy and I will fly to Houston for another hearing on January 21 where the judge will be presented with our homestudy, grandma's homestudy, and foster mom's homestudy, and maybe bio dad's homestudy, and the judge will decide I think at that hearing.

It would be a best seller! :)
