Back to School

I've got to crow just a little because I have a feeling that my taut ship will sink  later on in the school year. I'm going to enjoy this smooth start while I can.  This is an odd time for us to start back to school. We never start this early, but with baby number three on the way, I'll have to have some time off later in the schoolyear. No doubt our schedule will change drastically then!

By the way, I don't put my children's real names or pics on the web---they go by codenames on this blog, related to the Andy Griffith Show. Kid 1 is Earnest T. Bass, kid 2  is Thelma Lou. I'm torn between Charlene Darling or Josephine Pike for baby #3.

School is going very well. We're getting done earlier than we ever have, accomplishing more than we have before, and have free time in the afternoons. WHOO-HOO!  Here it is 12 noon and the kids are through with Bible, reading, science, grammar, spelling, handwriting, math, and our Contenders for the Faith/Keepers At Home lessons. We're done with laundry, lunch, and getting ready to run some errands in town.

We've also canned peaches, shucked/frozen corn, and gotten the house in a little better order. Not perfect, but better.

Pinch me, is this MY life? The perpetual running-behinder?  I need to remember this incredible start by commemorating it on the blog.  One day soon when I'm up at 2 in the morning with Charlene/Josephine, I'm going to remember with fondness that once, once upon a time things went like clockwork.

Glad school is going well. We will get back to it next week. We started easing into it a couple of weeks ago, but had music camp @ church last week.. totally messed up my schedule. I should have known better.

I don't know if I realized we were 'neighbors'? We live in Pigeon Forge.. saw your church was in Maryville. I love to got to Target in Maryville!!! :-D

Have a great week!
Blessings,
Amy Beth <><

Thanks for visiting, AmyBeth. Yep, we're neighbors--I'm definitely an East Tennesseean [twang and all]. I just visited your blog and saw you go to Gumstand Baptist where Ronnie Reagan preaches. I wonder if that's the same Ronnie Reagan that used to pastor in Townsend a few years back--I've heard his testimony and it's wonderful.

Doesn't it feel good when it all comes together as it should. Sounds like you've done a great job preparing for your new school year!
BTW what was Andy's girlfriends name in the later shows...Helen or Ellen?
I am so glad you had such a wonderful church service. I told my husband about your invitation and he said, "We coulda gone had it been seven years ago!"
Blessings, Julie

Ahh, Andy trivia---one of our family's favorite activities! Her name was Helen. And here it is the end of the week and we are still on schedule for school! I'm trying not to pinch myself---I don't want to wake up if I'm dreaming.

Aug. 2, 2008 - Hi there!

I really enjoyed reading the past few posts on the page and catching up on your life. Boy, this is a busy time of year for all of us isn't it??
I am glad that things are going so well for you, and I hope that it continues this way.
I loved reading all about your homeschool plans. I have been hashing ours out too. Thing is, my battery died in my laptop before I could get things moved and saved to my flash, so much of my important things are being held hostage at the moment!! :) Like my new Schoolhouse Planner!! :((

Have a great weekend!!
Blessings!

Hey ! I'm glad everything is going so smoothly for you. I hope it works out that way for us.I have set our schedule to be done by 12 everyday. We will still use Friday for home ec stuff, (cleaning, baking, etc) and field trips so that it feels like we have a long weekend plus the house gets cleaned for the weekend too. More relaxing for everyone that way. Just a little note, Ronnie is my Pastor's wife's uncle.Funny how small the world truly is , isn't it? Have a blessed day ! ~ Nikki

About Me

What don't I write about? Mostly, it's about homeschooling, our family life, and the persecuted church. But I take sidetrips for interesting or fun topics. Don't expect perfect spelling or design here, though. I'm a happy preacher's wife and homeschooling mama to three lil darlin's!
