To continue the posts on faith, this one references Luke 18: 1-8. To sum up, it is Jesus' parable about the persistent widow and the unrighteous judge. That little woman's persistence brought about judgement. Judgement wasn't based on the righteous character of the judge, but the persistence of the little widow woman.
Jesus teaches that how much sooner and better will our petitions be ansered when we have not only a righteous judge, but THE righteous judge--God himself. [verse 7, 8].
But then he wonders aloud, "Nevertheless whent he Son of Man cometh, shall he find faith on the earth?" Are we as persistant as the little widow woman?
He isn't talking about the folks who are nominally religious. He is talking about those with obedient faith, like that discussed in Luke 17: 5-10.
What a challenge. We know that the righteous Judge's character will never change or fail, but the questionable element is us. Are we as faithful as the little widow woman? Or are we easily discouraged? When He returns will we be found plowing, feeding the cattle, girded to serve, persistant, or laying down on the job?
