Epic Ride!

15:51, Nov. 17, 2007 .. 4 comments .. Link

I just got back from one of the most incredible moutain bike rides I have ever done!

Four of us went up to Soda Springs area and rode the "Hole in the Ground" trail.  Man that is one crazy technical trail!

The loop that we rode took us about four hours to complete.  It was definately the most incredibly technical trail that I have EVER ridden!  Lots of climbing through rock gardens and switchbacks, and lots of fast desending through (insane) rock gardens (there were several big drop offs) and tight switchbacks (one of them really snuck up on you and it was a pretty good drop if you missed it! :) )

You know though, it's scary how much fitness you can loose over one summer!  I was really wiped after some of the climbs!

The best part of the trail was near the end.  It was a short connector trail (it cut off a loop from a private road)  The trail had stairs all the way down!  They were about 8 plus inches tall, and they were so close together that you didnt really have room to stop your bike on the level in between!  So you had to just hang on, try and control your speed, and pray as you went down!  But we all made it down them okay and had a blast! :)

So now I am sitting here trying not to fall asleep while I type.  But I had so much fun!  It was all worth it! :)

More on Public Schools

PLEASE!  Go read this article!

It is a scary description of the atheistic mind and it discusses how atheists are using the public school system to indoctrinate students.  It is an excelent argument for homeschooling as well as Christian Colleges!

Parents, please don't send your children to be taught by these people!

I know that some of you guys are sitting there trying to hold your jaw up with your hand.

I realize that three posts in one day (within one hour) is quite a rarity.

But hopefully your guys can cope.

Go check out my brother's blog for a great entry about frequent posts!

Homeschooling

18:10, Oct. 28, 2007 .. 1 comments .. Link

I am taking a Worldview class this semester.  The book I am using (Understanding the Times by David A. Noebel) is really interesting.  It focuses on four of the major modern worldviews - Secular Humanism, Marxism, Cosmic Humanism, and Biblical Christianity.  I was reading about Cosmic Humanist Sociology the other day and I realized just how important it is to home school your children.

Here is an excerpt from the chapter on Cosmic Humanism Sociology:

"Cosmic Humanist hope to encourage a "limit-less" society by working within an already existing institution: our educational system.  By teaching children the proper attitudes toward themselves and their consciousness, New Age educators believe that they can create a generation capable of ushering in the New Age.  For this reason, many Cosmic Humanists choose careers in education.  In fact, Ferguson admits that out of all the New Age professionals she surveyed for The Aquarian Conspiracy, "more were involved in education than in any other single category of work."  Many of these Cosmic Humanists use their positions to promoter their worldview.  John Dunphy, in an article entitled "A Religion for the New Age," says the battle for the future will be fought in the classroom:

I am convinced that the battle for humankind’s future must be waged and won in the public school classrooms by teachers who correctly perceive their role as proselytizers of a new faith: a religion of humanity that recognizes and respects the spark of what theologians call the Divinity in every human being.  These teachers must embody the same selfless dedication as the most rabid fundamentalist preachers.

With the implementation of Values Clarification, sex clinics, moral relativism, biological evolution, Cosmos, and globalism in most public schools, Dunphy’s “proselytizers” have already established the foundation for their new faith. "

I'm homeschooling my kids!!

I came home the other day to a very exciting bit of news!

I have been accepted at LeTourneau University!

It is a small Christian engineering college out in east Texas.

I'm definately looking forward to going there.  I've been out there to visit my brother (who also attended LeTourneau) and it is a very nice school.  Nice campus and great professors.

But the food there is... well, statistically it is the worst college food in the nation!!

Oh boy!  I can't wait for that part to begin!  When I get there I'll send out my adress and you guys can send me lots of care packages!  Please! :)

Football!!

17:06, Oct. 7, 2007 .. 4 comments .. Link

I went out with a bunch of guys from my church and played flag football today!!  It was really fun!

It is kind of different trying to catch a football that is low on air!!  :)

We did discover that I am a pretty good Quarter Back!  (Even though I almost never play football!! :) )  But every one of my throws was complete (And we got a touchdown to boot! :) )

I just started going to this highschool group about a month ago but I am getting to know some of the people there and I'm really enjoying it!  Some of the kids (and all the adults) are really neat!

I got to go ice skating on Wednesday!

I carpooled down with some very good friends of mine (really awesome family!) and had an awsome time!  And I only fell three or four times!!  I was rather proud of myself!!  :)

What beauty and grace!

Fun stuff!
