Life at my house.....welcome to the zoo!

Being Content

Wow.  I don't have much time, but I knew I had to write this.  I was over on a friend's blog the other day and she had a post about the grass always being greener somewhere else....but what if you then find out its astroturf!  It really made me think.  We have not been content with our house.  Even my three year old has caught the bug....she said "we need a new house" the other day.  Then today I was talking to another wonderful pastor/homeschooling family who is expecting their seventh baby.  I told him that we were praying for a bigger house.  He said, "remember, your house is twice the size of ours!  Don't forget to be content with what God gives you."   Ouch.  THEN, for some odd reason I get the Alpha Omega email devotional (I don't use their curriculum).  Today's topic was being content!  Ugh.  I guess God thought that I have been really dense lately.  He had to hit me over the head 3 times, not once!

So....instead of praying for a bigger house I am now asking God to make me content.  I am also asking God to give me the creativity to make our house more organized and run smoother.

Sorry ladies, just because I am an author of homeschooling books....doesn't mean that I have everything together.  God's still working on me too!

I had to check out your blog from the mfw board.

Half quoting some speaker out there(Todd Wilson): But honey, we homeschool 7 children; shouldn't it look like they live here?

I loved your entry about being content. It is something I struggle with frequently. I keep trying to remind myself that God has given me exactly what he wants me to have for the moment. He will decide when to increase my blessings and when that moment comes I will be grateful. It is up to me, though, to be grateful for everything he has seen fit to bless me with. Thank you!

I was tagged on my blog and the rule was that I had to tag six random bloggers. Guess what?! You are my random blogger! It was very nice "meeting" you this afternoon. I am glad that I found you randomly.

In true blogger tag fashion, I must say: "TAG! YOU ARE IT!" Please visit my blog and play along.

In Him,

I can see that God wants all of us to be content. (I got that same AOP devotional!) *giggle* Funny how He will use various things to grab our attention.

Proof that we are all a little bit "under construction" at all times, eh? ;')

See you around, I hope!

You know, I've had this problem too. In fact, it was so bad that I was never content with any house I had. And then I had to give up my big house and move to a smaller more affordable house. It is amazing how I can get by with less and be content. I remind my kids all the time that a person greedy for gain brings destruction to their house. I am living proof of that Bible verse.
