pickles, pickles and more pickles

Wow.  My oldest dd and I canned 70 jars of pickles on Tuesday.  We tried a new recipe from marmeedear.com.  I am hoping it turns out better than last year's batch did.  They were way too mushy.  We ended up dumping over half of them :(.  I think I processed them too long.  The recipee always says to bring the hot water bath back to a boil and THEN count 10 minutes....well that means they are processing way too long.  So this time we only put the jars into the boiling water and immediately counted 5-6 minutes.  All but 3 jars sealed.  Not too bad.  So...we only have to wait 2 weeks to try them!

Did you see my add on the Freebie Friday Newsletter with the Old Schoolhouse magazine's online store??    Through next Thursday (Aug 14th) If you order BOTH     Draw and Write Through History: Creation to Jonah,    AND     Draw and Write Through History :Greece and Rome,  You can get the newest one:   Draw and WRite Through History: the Vikings, the Middle Ages, and The Renaissance  for FREE!!  Plus they always offer free shipping.    Just make sure you write "Free Draw and Write Through History book"  in the comment section of your order.

I am still trying to get pictures on here.  I have figured out how to get a picture uploaded to my photo album.  It looks like this:

This is my oldest dd almost 14 yrs old!  She just got back from a mission trip to Mexico. She is the "R" in CPR Publishing .  I will try to post more pictures of the kids.....but for now...How do I get this in a different spot?  How do I get it on the side of the blog instead of in my entry?

Hi! Have you tasted the pickles yet? Just curious how they turned out. We may try it next year.
