**CONTEST STICKY**
This will stay up until Feb 2nd.
Scroll down for my latest post.

Hi y'all!  As you can see by my very creative and clever title, I have been asked to host a contest.  A contest where ze prize is one of my most favorite things (no, I'm not giving away my husband, my kids, coffee or sparkly shoes)... BOOKS!  Not just any ole books mind you, but a 2 book set.   And lest ye think I'm just going to add one more thing to your to-read pile, don't worry-- these books would be perfect for your kids to read.

Fear not, my friends.  I'm not going to make you do something elaborate or force you to post praises about moi on your blogs in order to win either.  All you have to do is scroll down a wee bit and take a look-see at the Comeback Kids Series by Mike Lupica.

Dedication, teamwork and heart make Mike Lupica's Comeback Kids series a touchdown for young readers. Meet basketball great Billy Raynor (Hot Hand) and star drop-kicker Scott Parry (Two-Minute Drill). Both boys strive to be team players on and off the playing field. However, when faced with seemingly insurmountable obstacles, each character must reinvent his strategy if he wants to keep playing the game.

This series is recommended for readers between ages 8 to 11. Each subsequent title will feature a new protagonist, sport and challenge to overcome. Look out for future Comeback Kids books soon!

Okay, now that you've read about the great books, leave me a comment on THIS POST.  I'll figure out how to use that random number generator thingy and pick FOUR winners.  Yup, four sets of books will be given away!  Cool, huh?

So leave me a comment (including a way to reach you-- e-mail, blog link, etc.) and spread the word!  This contest will remain open through Feb. 2nd at midnight.

If you like Mr. Lupica's writing, please check out the Write Like Mike  contest that Walden Media is hosting.
So what is the Write Like Mike contest and why would anyone want to write like him?  Mike Lupica is a sports columnist and homeschoolers are encouraged to write a column about a sports activity.

One Grand Prize winner will win the following:

  • His or her winning sports column will be published in a Spring 2008 issue of The Old Schoolhouse Magazine;
  • A signed library of Mike Lupica books;
  • The winner will receive one thousand dollars ($1,000) to be given to the church, school or educational non-profit of their choice.

To read compete contest rules and information, as well as to enter the Write Like Mike contest please click HERE.

Isn't that an awesome Grand Prize?  And it's another way to encourage our kids to write.  There's nothing quite like the possibility of publication as well as free stuff to motivate even the most hesitant of writers!

Okay y'all, leave me a comment and tell your friends, okay?

~Marsha

I can't believe there is a series of books for boys that I haven't heard of. I thought I was a bibliophile.
I have 3 sons who would LOVE to read these (and 3 daughters that might too, who knows?)
Thanks for offering them!
