My niece and nephew
Posted in Kids-Family-Funnies-Etc
Why is it that people say niece and nephew but not nephew and niece? I guess it flows easier with niece first for some reason. But I digress.
I just wanted to share a picture of my nephew and my niece with y'all. Nephew first because he's older and I'm just used to putting the oldest child's name first when I'm writing. You can blame my older sister for that.
Anyhoo! These pics were taken by my sister on Easter Sunday. I've been playing around with my new Photoshop Elements and tweaked them ever so slightly.
This is Benjamin. We call him BenBen (we as in the boys and I). He is a month younger than Dozer and love sticks. He is a true BOY. My sister and I grew extra-super-dee-duper close when we were prego at the same time. It was so nice to have someone to talk to twenty million times a day about big bellies, feeling tired, FOOD, puking and all the other fun prego stuff. My other non-mommy (so far) sisters would've disowned me before the end of my first trimester-- or at least blocked my calls! Back to BenBen now... BenBen speaks very clearly and has beautiful hair. He and Dozer are great buddies. I really wish we were neighbors. (HINT HINT)

This is Emily. Em is almost 2 years old. So far, she is the only niece in the familia. She is woefully outnumbered by my three boys plus her brother. I think she likes it that way though. Needless to say, with all her aunt's and their penchant for retail therapy (I've got three sisters and a brother) she is always fashionably and beautifully dressed. I don't know what it is about that funny face she's making, but I just LOVE it!

People say 'niece and nephew' for the same reason they say 'ladies and gentlemen'. Once upon a time, women were highly valued in our society, and always came first.

Sweet looking kids!!!! I never really thought about it, but I ALWAYS say "nieces and nephews" too, even though my nephew is the oldest. Must be a ladies-first holdover. =8~)
Blessings,

Awwww...that's how my little girl is. She is the only girl in the family. She has all boy cousins and a brother. As girly as she is, she can hold her own. :)

Absolutely beautiful children. Love Ben's hair. I wish one of mine would have gotten some of the red. My fil is a complete red head. Didn't happen.

And what cuties they are. How fun that you & your sis got to go through pregnancy together. In fact you should probably share that experience with ALL your sisters - just to keep things fair. a;ldf;asd;lfja;sdjf;ajdf;j
I am amazed at all you all can do with photoshop. I always see the "original" pictures and think that they're really great and then you photoshop folks just "kick it up a notch".
What a talent.

they are both so cute! What dolls!
My brother was always outnumbered 1 to 5 til Isaac and Caleb came along. Eric was 6 when Isaac was born and 8 when Caleb was. So...
That is so special you got to go through your pregnancies together. My Mom always thought it would be neat to do a Father of the Bride 2 and have me and her pregnant at the same time... who knows... it could happen...
Thanks for your comment!
