You have got to be kidding me!
Just when I thought things couldn't get more absurd, take a look at THIS STORY. See? That's what I get for thinking in the first place, a big old headache. Oh I could take this story so many places-- activist judges (may their own children teach them a lesson!), the loss of common sense (or any sense at all) today, the nerve of some kids, the usurping of parental rights and the ever tragic so-goes-Europe-so-goes-Canada-then-California-then-the-rest-of-the-USofA.
But this girl who took her dear old dad to court.... and the judge saying the punishment was too severe? Boo hoo ya little brat! I think I would totally disown the girl because honestly, are you serious?! Why don't you just divorce me instead of taking me to court? And if it's a 10 year custody battle, I say let the mom (who is surely the source of the girl's "good" ideas) have her and get away from that INSANITY! Talk about feeling like you're taking crazy pills or something!
And the judge? Don't even get me started. Yes, your honor. I will unground my daughter from the inernet. And then I will throw the computer out the window and smash it into a bzillion pieces. Let her pay for her own computer and internet. Or let her mom pay for it. At her house, not mine!
Ahem. Okay, end of rambly rant. I just couldn't help it! Please tell me if I am wrong in my interpretation of that article. I mean, I could be I suppose. Y'know, you read something and get so worked up sometimes...
I think tomorrow's post will be something less irritating and blood pressure raising... I know, we can talk about fashion! Surely it won't get me all riled up and upset, right???

I'm speechless. Seriously, there are no words to describe this situation. What that girl needs a good old fashion spanking!!!!! Poor dad, getting his authority taken away from him. At think point I wouldn't blame him if he just walked away and disowned the whole situation.

It's outrageous. I can't think of anything else. It's just wrong in so many ways.

Wow, that is just completely unbelievable! How in the world does a child get to the point of taking the parent to court and more importantly - what was that judge smoking?????? Are you kidding me? What kind of family does this judge have??
Thanks for sharing. I just don't know if I'd believe this if I hadn't read the article for myself!

I saw this too. It is unbelievable to me how far we've come in my lifetime. This is the one world system come to roost. This is what HSLDA is fighting against. UN on the rights of a child stuff will eventually come home to roost in the US. I report on this on my podcast, Grace Talk Soup each Thursday and in my newsletter each month: Defending the Faith Review. Parents rights are a big issue and if you think it won't be challenged here in the U.S...
I know what you mean about getting all riled up. If you want something fun to focus on, I have a contest going on right now where you can win a free Art of Eloquence product. Just find Foot in Mouth Man on our site. The only FIMM who looks different. Clues on on my blog and on Grace Talk Soup each week but you can find him just by looking. Email fimm@artofeloquence.com with what he looks like and where you found him and you will be entered into the drawing.
I now return you to your regularly scheduled blog...

Oh yeah, right! Fashion is supposed to get you less "riled up" ?? LOL
My first reaction to the spoiled brat article is very similar to yours... good grief! And this statement "got my goat" too: "we have to ask ourselves how far this will go." Oh come on, people, people, people!!!!! If you'd "nip it in the bud, you wouldn't have to ask yourselves "how far will this go."

No, you're definitely not alone. This is completely outrageous, however, I don't suppose in this world that I'm really surprised. I think the parents have a lot to do, though, with the girl's brattiness and spoiledrottenness (is that a word?). 10 years of custody battle??? Can you imagine what those 2 have put her through? I might rebel against such selfishness and stupidity, too! However, not the reason for a judge to interfere in parental rights!!
I took the test~I'm only at 66 (superior). Somehow a 66 didn't seem too superior, but if they say so.

That is just unbelievable that a court would intervene when a parent grounds a child from a LUXURY. How many families out there barely have enough to eat, much less having a computer and internet in their home and the court actually AGREED with the girl that she was entitled to those things and her father couldn't remove that privelege?!
Outrageous!
Kudos to the dad for trying to set some boundaries for his kid and trying to keep her safe. The daughter is obviously struggling and the courts just sent her the TOTALLY wrong message. Very, very sad - and scary.

I have to stop and remind myself that God is still on the throne and still in control when I read stupid stuff like this or it could drive me crazy!!!
