Happy Birthday to my hubsy-wubsy-pookey-bear!
Posted in Kids-Family-Funnies-Etc
So how many of you really think I call David my hubsy-wubsy-pookey-bear in real life?
Well, I don't! I usually call him David, babe or occasionally Dash's real name if he's frustrating me somehow (which ummm... let's just say does not make him very happy-- although it really is accidentally done-- honest!).
Today, David turned the big 36. HAPPY BIRTHDAY BABY!!!
David's parents came to visit, we ate a yummy lunch at Chuy's and then came home for birthday cake (with homemade cream cheese frosting). After having this old Kodak camera for years, I finally tried the self-timer button so we could have a picture with everyone in it:

Not too bad, eh? Although I can't for the life of me figure out why David never smiles in pictures. He looks kinda mean, don't ya think? But he really is nice and super fun! Even if he doesn't have a nickname like sugar-baby-fluffy-buttercup.
David has always called me babe. For some reason, he decided earlier this year that he would start calling me Marsha. Marsha! Can you believe it? Not only did it totally freak me out, but I kept feeling like he was mad at me for something. I finally forced him to quit calling me by my real name and asked him to please call me what he always calls me-- which is babe (and most likely more appealing than the alternative which would be "My Queen"). I also promised not to give him a hard time about whether or not if he knew what my real name was-- or if he was scared that he'd accidentally say his girlfriend's name instead of mine. (Oh I kid! Like he'd have a girlfriend. We are very secure in our relationship and there is no need for anyone to worry. Thankyouverymuch.)
So, do y'all have nicknames for each other? Please share. And be HONEST! I promise I won't laugh. Too hard.

Babe, here too. And I occasionally call him either my brother's name or our oldest son's name. Which is funny, his mother used to call his dad his name.

Awwwwm happy birthday to the old man. Well, I am actually older than David is by like 14 months so I guess he's a young man compared to me isn't he?!
Bill and I always bug each other about having a boyfriend/girlfriend. His "girlfriend's" name is LaWanda and my "boyfriend's" name is Rocco.
Bill often calls me Sweets (which annoys the heck out of me but I will never tell him that) and I call him plain old Honey. Or sometimes I call him by the dog's name! Hey at least I call him :-)

Happy Birthday "Babe's" Husband! :o)
My husband and I call each other by name or "Hon" and sometimes "Babe." We actually have secret names for each other that we only share the initials. My name for him is PPB and his for me is BLT. People have had lots of fun trying to figure it out, but our lips are sealed! NO TELLIE! It's been about 18 years now and we've not told anyone. :o)

I guess after 23 years of marriage, we're too boring to have nicknames. Occasionally, we both say Baby. He usually calls me by the nickname that all of my extended family calls me~ Tisha or Tish.

As for me... I call him ALOT of things... babe mostly, Erik after that! He has a nickname for Valerie... he calls her Cupcake and she calls him Brownie... very cute. He calls Ryan "Goofball" and Daniel "Meatball".
Gee... writing this makes me feel left out!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I want a nickname!!!!!! I am demanding one!!!!!!!

Well, not too long ago, Micah started pulling the worst, the most unlooked for and hideous thing and started calling me, "Ma".
Now, maybe that doesn't horrify you, like it did me, but let me tell you, it did not last long.
Besides that he's never, ever called me anything besides Amy. I've always wished and longed for some sweet (not too mushy), romantic name for me, but no. Just Amy. Not even Aim... nothin'. Just Amy.
And though I lament, I 'spose it's actually okay because I MUCH prefer Amy to "Ma" any day!
I throw out your run-of-the-mill "Honey" occasionally... and REALLY rarely Chubby Chumchocks -- which I have NO idea where THAT came from!
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!!!!!
Well, it was good to hear you. I'm still praying for your family whenever I think of you. I read your comment over at EEEEmommy's and was glad to see your post.
Love ya,
Amy

I am REALLY glad you don't call him "hubsy-wubsy-pookey-bear". For a few seconds there, I thought I was going to have to delete you from my friends list. :-)
For many years, my hubby always called me "Dear" and I always called him "Brandon". (B/c that is his name, and yes, at 47 he is the oldest Brandon anyone knows of.) Well actually, for the 1st year of marriage I called him "Sweetie"... no, wait, I bet actually it was the 1st 9 mos & 25 days. Then our first baby was born, and poor Hubz was no longer "Sweetie", just Brandon. But I was still "Dear", *always*, for the longest time. Maybe a decade. Then he started calling me by my real name every so often, and boy was that ODD! I'm used to it now, though. And THEN he somehow started corrupting "Bethany" into "Bethangely", which he then shortened to "Thange". So I sometimes get called that, too.
When he's acting like one of the kids, I'll call him "Ben Senior" (or whichever kid), and he does the same to me. And when we're mad at each other-- no, wait, I won't talk about that; I'm sure you want this to remain a family friendly blog. ;-)
Boy, I guess you know how to get the comments rolling.
OH- and remember your post about people thinking Tank & Dash look so much alike? And I mentioned that I can always tell who's who in the pics unless it only shows the backs of their heads? WELL, in the pic above, I can barely tell them apart. So I'm eatin' them words, I guess. But I *think* Dash is in the yellow, right?

Funny you should ask because recently, OK, not *recently*, like in the past 3 years or so, Mark quit calling me Annie. He is the only one that has ever called me Annie. It was all he ever called me until one day he started calling me Annemarie. What's up with that? Did I cease to be cute enough to be called Annie? I think I need to talk to him about this.
I call him Mark, Marky, Sparky, Baby, Honey or anything else that seems appropriate at the moment, like goofball or nut cracker.
Happy Birthday David!

marsha, my feed reader quit picking up your posts. Ack! I have some catching up to do. I love nicknames. We are the nickname family. When my hubby calls me MOTHER or SUSAN I'm in trouble, or he has been trying to get my attention and I don't hear him, which is quite often. My hubbys name is a nickname he's had all his life. I'm not supposed to share online but it is the name of a SUV, brand name for Wrangler or Cherokee. I love his name. It is short for a much longer French name. I have so many nicknames---Momeeto, or Meeto for short. Oldest daughter calls me Maamee.

I too am "babe" or "mama" or "mom" from my hubby. It's weird though when his mother is in the same room. He'll call for me but then she says "yeah?" Awkward. He actually used my real name the other day, and I found myself saying "awwww." It sounded nice!

We use the 'babe' thing too, but Charley very frequently calls me 'my love' or 'my lovely'. As in, "WHY is matching my socks so HARD, my Lovely?" (I'll never get this laundry thing down. ever.) Sometimes i'll call him 'Preston' (our last name). That's only because I grew up with not one, but TWO uncle Charley's. And though they were great, they were both old and chubby and, well, my uncles. MY Charley is none of those things. So it seems odd to call him Charley. Plus, 'Preston' sounds proper and 1800s-ish. I like that. :)

My husband is a carpenter... so when we talk about things he builds and we are about to end the conversations... I say... ( its the geek in me)
" Make it so number 2"
The first time I said it he was offended he wasn’t number 1.... I told him sorry as gently as I could and let him know... Gods number 1. *Ü*
The other nick name... I’m more embarrassed about... but... its peanut butt.....
I also say hun and or babe...

Okay, I had to laugh when I got the part of this post that tells how appalled you were when your husband called you by your first name. My husband *never* calls me by my first name. It's always hon, babe, etc. (most commonly hon), and so when he uses my actual name, I feel like I'm in trouble, LOL! How ridiculous is that? Makes me squirm.
Thanks for giving me a good chuckle tonight. And on that note, I've got to head to bed....
Have a great weekend,

My husband similarly calls me babe, hon, stuff like that.... but his unique nickname for me is Wifey Dough. I guess because he "kneads" me, who knows? ;-)
Now I must add an extra comment, un-nickname-related. I have been absent from the blogging world for ages, and still am (as far as writing posts goes), but I returned a few months' back when a mutual blogging friend informed me that your precious boy went to be with God. I read your friend's post as well as other tributes from HOTM and cried along with you. I wanted to share encouragement, but felt out of place since I haven't been around. I've thought of you often, and hugged my own boys all the tighter, though I haven't been back to visit your blog until today. I've been getting myself up-to-date. This is as far as I've gotten, but I'll finish the rest of your posts after I send my comment. Let's just say my eyes have seen drier days. I also want to tell you that you have ministered to me even in the midst of your grief. Thank you, Marsha, for your faith and trust in God. I assure you, it won't go unnoticed. You truly are an inspiration, and I'm grateful for you.... a special sister-in-Christ that I have never even met. I look forward to meeting you one day in heaven, a place you must be longing for now more than ever. Praying God sends you extra-special blessings this Christmas, and many sweet reminders of Christian.
