Wuv... twue wuv is what bwings us togethah today
Posted in General Ramblings
My baby sister Bobo (her real name is Deborah, we call her Debbie- or Bobo) is GETTING MARRIED ON SATURDAY!
Take a look at the coolest cake topper ever:

Do you see the resemblance?

Okay, so perhaps the above picture is not the most representative of Bobo and Aubrey. But the topper does look a lot like them, don't you think?
So not only does she get a cool cake topper, she also gets an awesome new last name: Mrs. Sterling. Yup, lucky-ducky girl she is.
What did you have on top of your wedding cake? I had doves... with feathers! (I'll leave y'all to interpret the exclamation point to mean "I loved it!" or "What was I thinking?"- your choice).
Oh and did you do the whole smear-cake-on-the-face thing or not? We most definitely did not. I'm not footloose and fancyfree like that. Besides, you don't go messing with an expensive dress and a bride's makeup, especially when it's over 100 degrees outside!

I had hearts on top of my cake and I didn't do the whole smear the cake thing. I warned him that I wouldn' t think that was funny. Yikes 100 degrees! Although I would take 100 right now, I am done with the cold.

Congrats to your sister!
I had a white glass bride and groom on top of my cake.
And we did do cake smooshing. My groom held a big piece of cake up mocking that he was going to throw it at me. And well, I couldn't let that slide :) So I got him first. It was so fun! And sweet, because we cleaned each other up.
Have a great day

How fun! I see the resemblance. We had a glassy bride and groom on our cake. Long gone but I have my dress for one of my daughters to wear. And no, we didn't do the smear the cake although Shane probably would have liked to :) But he did give me my first kiss from him that day.
love,
Christine

That is the COOLEST! WAY cooler than mine.
Since we married outside in a gazebo, our cake was in a gazebo stand. The "topper" was fall colored flowers, but under the cage (in the gazebo) was our dancing couple :)

Jan. 19, 2009 - wedding cakes...yum!

Before I answer your questions, I need to tell you a little more about our wedding cake mishap. I went by target bakery (thinking I could save some money since we paid for everything) and looked through their book. They had a cake that was kinda ugly and overdone, but it had same areas with basket weaving on it. It was rather late, but I asked the girl taking our order if we could get it with just the baskey weaving all over it. She said sure and wrote up the order. The evening before our wedding day we went to pick up the cake and they had done the exact same ugly cake from the picture. I was not happy in the least and they did not seem to understand my distress, so I asked for the store manager. They gave us the cake at discount, but it was still awefully ugly. We had a white ceramic very contemporary bride and groom with interlocking arms that were shaped like wedding rings. NO SMEARING ALLOWED!!! My hubby is more of the neat freak, so I knew not to push the envelope on our wedding day.

I didn't have a wedding cake, as we eloped. AND I LOVE CAKE!!!!!!!!!! WAAAAAAH.
But I've made up for it by eating lots and lots of cake over the years. So I'm good.

Very cool topper!
We had doves, no feathers.
And cake, no smashing, smearing or otherwise beating each other up. LOL

I love that cake topper! It's a keeper for sure. We eloped and so didn't have a cake or really a wedding. A Justice of the Peace married us in Nevada (I was stationed in California) before I got my orders so my dear hubby could go with me where ever the Navy sent me. Of course, a month later I got my orders and moved....across the hangar! I went from being a student in a training squadron to being staff in the same squadron! Oh well, it was still a rather romantic "wedding".

That really DOES look like them! I thought that they had it custom made. Very fun!
I had a goofy ceramic bride and groom -- looked like something from the Everything's a Dollar Store (probably WAS!). I made a little wicker base to put it on. Oh, my, it was so ugly. Of course, I thought it was beautiful at the time. How embarrassing. Love covers all.

Our cake just had flowers because I couldn't find a cake topper that I really liked. Also, no cake smooshing allowed. I'm like you and I didn't want cake all over my dress. LOL

... and thank you SO much for invoking that scene just before I go to bed. If that scary vicar dude shows up in my dreams it will be your fault.
No cake topper, just a nice cake. And definitely no smearing or stuffing. I was too refined for that.
I'm off to find the man with six fingers on his left hand, or something.

Is it bad that I can't remember if we had icing flowers on the top or an actually cake topper. I'm thinking it was of a cheesy bride and groom (nothing cool like BoBo's). We definitely didn't do the smear the cake in the face thing. We had a 3 hour drive to Oklahoma after the wedding. I couldn't be all sticky. Besides, the wedding bell pinatas were enough fun. :P

My cake topper was a precious moments bride and groom. Not what I really wanted but I couldn't find what I wanted. It was better than my ugly cake. No, we didn't do the cake in the face thing either. And our wedding day was cold! (in April)
Congratulations to your sister! I love her cake topper!
I just dropped in to let you know I've given you a double-award. Please come by & grab them when you get a chance.

Congratulations to your sister and new husband!
We had a Boyd's Bear wedding couple on our cake! Now it sits on our table stand! No we did not smear cake on each other -- I find it rude!

I had flowers--real ones, arranged by my Mum-in-law.
And we didn't do the smear the face thing either. We were too old for that...

We had flowers on our cake and we smeared cake all over each others' faces. The photographer got a picture right before we smeared. We were both laughing hysterically and holding the pieces of cake like baseballs ready to throw. It's one of my favorite memories from our wedding. Congrats to your sis.

We had 2 ceramic figures (a little cheezy now!) that did not look anything like us. They sat on top of a blown class stand with a heart shape that kind of surrounded the couple.
No, we did not smear cake all over each other!
Thanks for sharing the video of Christian and how God has given you those gifts.
The remote control car is so cool. What kind is that. My girls (not so girly usually) would go nuts over that.

Oh, it does look like them? Is that truly coincidence or can you order those toppers to look like the bride and groom. Congratulations to the happy couple!!! How exciting. We did a very wimpy smearing of cake...not an official one.
BTW, bookmark my new blog, please.

Wow, the cake topper looks just like them! We had a Precious Moments bride and groom cake topper with a white floral heart-shaped wreath around it. It turned out really cute, and we still keep the topper in our curio cabinet. We were nice about feeding the cake, and ate the top of the cake a week later.

That does look like them...in a cartoon way of course...seriously cute...
I had roses and such....I was like - just make it simple and elegant..and nothing plastic up there...
Andy and I were giving each other glares to say "don't you dare smear that cake on me" and it worked....but we weren't quite enjoying the moment.... Loved the rest of it - and so glad you guys had fun for your sister's wedding! Glad you left when you did too! It's cold up here - but sun's on the way. Hugs - d
