Good or bad- Sat School!

Posted in School Stuff

With David's crazy work schedule, we sometimes have Saturday school.

Public school kids don't have to have Saturday school...

Before you boo-hoo for my kids, public school kids also don't get to drink an italian sweet cream steamer while doing their math.  And if for some reason they have this magical public school a la Starbucks in a far away land that I can't relate to, I doubt that their teacher asks them halfway through their math if they would like to have their drink re-steamed!

hehe Can you see his milk mustache?  I suppose since he's already 9 years old, he's actually going to want some espresso in that cup before long.  Hey, does this count as a "school" post?

Jan. 31, 2009 - No ice days for us either

Posted by Lori

Our kids were kind of bummed that we did school when there was ice on the ground. But we get to take off on Sun Days instead of Ice Days, much better! In all fairness, we did have a "2 hour delay" so the kids could enjoy sliding in the backyard before it all melted.

We do school on Saturdays once in a while too. I love being able to be flexible. I am a very spontaneous person, I like being able to take a day off with my kids and be able to make it up later. :)

Saturday school sounds like a great idea to me, as does year-round school. However, I don't do either, because by the time either possibilty ever occured to me, we'd been homeschooling for years and fully entrenched in the "traditional" schedule, and methinks the kids would protesteth. (We do summer school some years, but it does not look a lot like our regular school year.) So I think you are SMART, Lady, to get your kiddos used to such things while they are young.

Although it may *not* be so smart to get your kids used to that homeschool ala starbucks thing... :-)

I love that we can do what works for our family. My 11yo loves mochas and yes sometimes she gets one from SB and yes sometimes I will make her a coffee for breakfast.

I can't imagine school without something scrumptious to drink. Neither can my kids. Makes learning much more fun! We've done Saturdays from time to time, some evenings too. Tomorrow we'll do some work at the dentist office.

This is a wonderful reminder for me--thank you for always sharing.
I have to tell you that I purchased Streams in the Desert after reading your posts about it so often. I have been reading that, along with Mornings with Tozer and I love them both.
Praying for your family,
Katrina
