Boys are just weird, take today's conversation for example

Posted in Kids-Family-Funnies-Etc

While folding laundry this evening, I came across an extra extra thick pair of socks.  Size medium, ankle cut, Hanes, blue stitching on the toe.  Further investigation led to the discovery of not one, but three pairs of socks--all neatly tucked within one another.

While the sock monster has been known to mysteriously eat a stray or weak sock that lagged behind the herd, it had never before been known to carefully place socks within one another.

This could only mean one thing.

Onion Boy has been wearing at least three pairs of socks at the same timeHillbilly-Pirate Boy is too picky about how clothes feel to ever try such an uncomfortable stunt.  Besides, his socks have green stitching on the toe.

When confronted with the aforementioned allegations of sock abuse, Onion Boy responded with a giant, prideful grin on his face.

What, mommy?  Didn't you know that the other day I even had on FOUR shirts?!

Ummm... no, honey.  Mommy does not notice such things when they are worn by a skeleton boy!  He seriously is deficient in the muscle mass department-- talk about skin and bones!  The boy eats and gets taller and his feet even grow, but his waist, arms and legs never ever get wider.  I wish I had that problem.

So dear friends, do your children wear multiple layers?  And remember, I'm not talking about cold weather layering (it's been warm here).  This is dressing like this-- four shirts, 3 socks and who knows what else-- just because

At least it wasn't like 2 pairs of shorts with 6 frogs shoved in the pocket, which has happened before courtesy of OB and HPB.

Recently I've noticed several layers of pants/shorts, shirts, and for quite awhile multiple socks. The socks I see in the laundry basket. The other clothing I notice while it's being worn. The clothes are mostly boys; the socks are boys and girls.

Not multiple layers but have found clean clothes in the laundry basket because someone or sometwo or somethree figure it's easier to throw them there than put them away.

Boys are weird! They make up weird songs. They eat their food weird and gross. They see no problem with nakedness. And they think gas is hilarious. Just to name a few.

I have one that will strip down to a t-shirt in 60' weather and the other one regularly wears an undershirt, t-shirt, long sleeved shirt open over top and a fleece over that - unless we go out when he adds a coat for good measure!!! No wonder the laundry pile never gets to the bottom! :o)

My Dh wears 3 shirts at any given time of the year, yes, even when it is 90 degrees outside he is know to wear two tee shirts and a nice golf shirt over them. It's crazy! Totally crazy, but I love him with all his corkyness. It makes him him. DH also wears 2 pairs of socks. In winter he puts on a pair of regular white cotton socks and then puts on a pair of ankle socks over them. In summer he wears 2 pairs of ankle socks at the same time. LOL, it's funny, huh?

Don't have the multiple layers, but I DO have boys that change clothes every other hour! I thought only girls did that.

Mine do the same thing. Not so much now that they are getting older, but they still do it.
Marsha, I just miss you. I hope that you are doing well!

Oh my. I so know what you are on about! I have a son who is now 14 and he used to always wear at least two hats at all times. A cowboy hat and a fireman hat. An Austalian Outback hat and a baseball cap. Tons of combinations, but always at least two.

I was walking with my son today and out of the blue he started telling me he had shorts on under his jeans in case he went swimming and could have appropriate clothes. (Uh, we are in the middle of some heavy cold rain and fog here, but he's gone swimming in the creek three days in a row now. He's definitely a boy). I mentioned something about him always being prepared and he got all happy and told me he was wearing four shirts right then! A proud mom moment, certainly. ;-/

And I have another son who loves to wear three and four pairs of his dad's socks at a time (nobody will wear anyone's sock but their dad's, even when they go over their knees and the heels hit mid calf). I'm wondering if we are an oddity or if this is a normal I've never heard about before. I'm so glad you brought it up!
