The minds of my oddball boys

Posted in Kids-Family-Funnies-Etc

This morning we finished studying the last of the 7 continents of the world-- Europe.  We looked on the map and the kids were fascinated by the various countries, but took special interest in two particular islands-- Iceland and Madagascar.  This led to the following discussion.

Me:  Lele (his aunt) has been to Iceland with Uncle Jason.  They rode snowmobiles.

Dash (6yo):  Really?  I want to go there!  I want to ride snowmobiles!

Tank (4yo):  Why don't we get to go to Iceland?

Me:  Well, if you study your lessons and go to college and get a good job then you will have enough money to go anywhere in the whole wide world!

Dash:  Like Madagascar?

Tank:  No, Dash!  You can go to anywhere you want!  TO TENNESSEE!!!

Dash:  Oooooh, yaaaah!!! TENNESSEE!

Tank:  Yeah, you can ride the bumper cars in Tennessee--even the yellow one!

...are so funny aren't they!? I love some of their conversations. I was speaking to my ds3 today in a funny voice and he said, "No, you not mawmy (his sweet way of saying Mommy), you a weirdy!" I have no idea where he learned that, because we never refer to anyone as being weird or a weirdo, but apparently I won the award today!
Yes, I am also amazed that I was able to get my thoughts down! I am in a daze most of the time. :) Hopefully this baby will not be any earlier than Feb. 2. I am actually due Feb. 12 and am being induced on the 2nd because we moved and want our same doctor. Unfortunately the hospital he works out of is an hour and 15 min. away, at least. So, we thought it best to induce rather than give birth in the van. Of course, if the baby did arrive early I would go to the local hospital. As is I usually go early and I have very little babies, so I don't want this fella any sooner than need be.

I love the imagination of children! They must think Tennesee sounds exotic and far away. When I was little I thought Timbuktu was a land like Narnia. LOL!

Thats funny. I wouldn't mind going to Tennessee. All the pictures Amy Beth takes are so beautiful, it must be true! Guess what? Coie ordered two pairs of earings! I saw you gave the purple ones to her. I hope it was because you really wanted to and not because you didn't like them. I'd hate for you to not like something that you ordered. But I'm glad she likes them enough to order two more pairs!

Thus our state motto; Tennessee sounds goooood to me!
This is too funny! What a hoot they are, huh?!
I'm glad that you're teaching your little men about the finer things in life... Europe? ...travel the world, see the 7 wonders of the world?... *pish-posh*...We'll take TN! That's what we say too! LOL!

that is one smart kid. tell him to bring his whole family out to TN again and Mrs. Ig will make a big honkin chicken curry feast for all. *way* better than snowmobiles in Madagascar

Ahhh, the comments of children. Did you do any projects to go along with this study? Was it in a curriculum or did you plan it out yourself?? Just curious.

Jan. 19, 2006 - They must have seen the Tennessee mountains to make such a mark on their minds

Posted by armoorefam

I miss the mountains. We used to live at the foothills of the Smokies. Oh how I miss them. SW Arkansas is pretty much flatlands - I love that everything is forest and farmland though. We live in the section that just barely begins to do a bit of rolling, but it is a ways to get to anything that amounts to a mountains (Ozarks).
