The lady with the alligator purse

Posted in General Ramblings

How many of you know this song?
Ms. Susie had a baby,
his name was Tiny Tim
She put him in the bathtub to see if he could swim

He drank up all the water,
He ate up all the soap
He tried to eat the bathtub,
but it wouldn't go down his throat!

Ms. Susie called the doctor
The doctor called the nurse
The nurse called the lady with the alligator purse!

And I have no idea how the rest of the song goes. But what got that song stuck in my head was this super great find at the store the other day. Look what I got for $10!!!

The bright green color is just the perky-pick-me-up that I needed!

I. love. it.

I am not a purse switcher. I am a devoted purse owner... if I love you, dear purse, I will be committed to you. I won't change purses to go with different outfits. Once I have found you, I will put my arm through yours no matter what I happen to be wearing-- even if it doesn't match and even if it clashes!

Since you deserve honesty, I must confess that once your good looks have spoiled or you begin to weigh so much that my shoulder and neck begin to hurt, I will have to discard you. Never to be used again.

Not ever.

(Well, unless you're this one clutch that I really like, but let's face it.. a clutch isn't a practical everyday kind of accessory for a momma who needs her hands to be free.  It's more for certain occasions.)

So what are your purse habits? How many do you have in your closet?

I remember that song. Except we sang it Miss Lucy instead of Susie.

I'm not a purse switcher either. I have a winter purse (black with brown trim so very versatile) and a summer purse which is crochet with stripes. I have used them both for more than one year, but will get rid of them when I get a new purse to replace them.

hmm ya, you had to bring up the purse issue. I love purses, bags, totes, luggage, diaper bags (when I needed them). I am pretty devoted to my purse too, for one year. Then around my birthday in May I get a hankering for a new one, and usually get one from either hubby or my mother. I'm not totally crazy in that I spend hundreds on a purse but I wouldn't blink an eye on about $100 for a good purse. And believe me, I am very tame compared to my mother and sister.

I had to look up the rest of the song, because I remember singing it when I was a kid... only I remember singing that Tiny Tim was a turtle (I probably changed the words) I couldn't believe how many different versions of the song there are.
Miss Suzie had a baby
She named him Tiny Tim
She put him in the bathtub
To see if he could swim.

He drank up all the water
He ate up all the soap
He tried to eat the bathtub
But it wouldn't fit down his throat

Miss Suzie called the doctor
The doctor called the nurse
The nurse called the lady
With the alligator purse

In came the doctor
In came the nurse
In came the lady
With the alligator purse

"Mumps" said the doctor
"Measels" said the nurse
"Nonsense" said the lady
With the alligator Purse

"Castor oil" said the doctor.
"Cod liver oil" said the nurse.
"Pizza" said the lady
With the alligator purse.

Out went the doctor
Out went the nurse
Out went the lady
With the alligator purse.

My purse habits are horrible. I LOVE purses and have tons. I will go to the store and see a cute purse. I think to myself, "This purse is perfect for me. I love it" Well, I come home and find the exact same purse already sitting in my closet. I have purses of all shapes, colors and capacities. My favorites are ones with long handles that I can throw over my shoulder.
This is crazy, but I used to go through diaper bags the same way. I changed diaper bags every week. :)
I would ask my hubby which one he liked best, and he would look at me like he married a lunatic.

I love your green purse. It's so cute.

I wish a fantastic day to the lady with the alligator purse :)

I am not a purse switcher. I have a black winter one and a pastel striped summer one. Both of them were purchased 2 or more years ago. It's just not a priority on my list. I love your green one. Really cute!!

Ooo, don't even get me started on The Purse Census. Last week I made myself two - not one, but two - new bags. Can't use two at once, so why did I make two? And why did I make *any* when I already have, um, an unmentionable number in my closet?

It's a mystery for the ages.

Love your green bag. Groovy.
