Jesus Won It All!

Beauty for ashes
Life evermore
Peace beyond measure...
Jesus won it all

Saved out of darkness
Cleansed by His blood
Into His Kingdom
By the power of God

He has won it!
My salvation, my forgiveness at the cross!
He is healing, He's redemption
For whoever would come, He has won
That's the cross.

All can take freely
Water of life
Let all who thirst come!
Worship Jesus Christ!

He has won it!
My salvation, my forgiveness at the cross!
He is healing, He's redemption
For whoever would come, He has won
That's the cross.

For in Him is the life
That destroyed sin and death
And He broke every chain
For the bound and oppressed

For in Him is the life
That destroyed sin and death
And He broke every chain
For the bound and oppressed

HE'S ALIVE... HE'S ALIVE!

He has won it!
My salvation, my forgiveness at the cross!
He is healing, He's redemption
For whoever would come, He has won
That's the cross.

• Apr. 11, 2009 - The End of the Beginning

Posted in Songs
The End of the Beginning by David Phelps
I was taking a trip on a plane the other day
Just wishin’ that I could get out.
When the man next to me saw the book in my hand
And asked me what it was about.

So I settled back in my seat.
"A best-seller," I said,
"A hist’ry and a myst’ry in one."
Then I opened up the book and began to read
From Matthew, Mark, Luke and John...

"He was born of a virgin one holy night
In the little town of Bethlehem.
Angels gathered ‘round Him
Underneath the star singing praises to the great I AM.
He walked on the water, healed The lame
And made the blind to see again.
And for the first time here on earth
We learned that God could be a friend.
And though He never, ever did a single thing wrong
The angry crowd chose Him.
And then He walked down the road and died on the cross
And that was the end...of the beginning."

"That’s not a new book, that’s a Bible," he said,
"And I’ve heard it all before.
I’ve tried religion, it’s shame and guilt,
and I don’t need it anymore.

"It’s superstition, made-up tales,
just to help the weak to survive."
"Let me read it again," I said,
"But listen closely. This is gonna change your life."

"He was born of a virgin one holy night
In the little town of Bethlehem.
Angels gathered ‘round Him
Underneath the star singing praises to the great I AM.
He walked on the water, healed the lame,
And made the blind to see again.
And for the first time here on earth
We learned that God could be a friend.
And though He never, ever did a single thing wrong,
The angry crowd chose Him.
And then He walked down the road
And died on the cross and that was the end...of the beginning."

"The end of the beginning?" he said with a smile.
"What more could there be? He’s dead.
You said they hung Him, put nails in His hands
And a crown of thorns on His head."
I said, "I’ll read it again, but this time there’s more.
And I believe that this is true:
His death wasn’t the end
but the beginning of life that’s completed in you.
Don’t you see, He did all this for you..."

"He was born of a virgin one holy night
In the little town of Bethlehem.
All the angels singing praises to the great I AM.
He walked on the water, healed the lame,
And made the blind to see.
And for the first time here on earth,
did you know that God could be a friend?
And though He never, ever did a single thing wrong,
He was the one the crowd chose.

And then He walked
and He died,
but three days later,
three days later,
three days later...
He rose! Three days later He rose!

You see, He came, He lived, and He died....
but that was the end of the beginning.

• Apr. 10, 2009 - Journey to the Cross ~ Black / White

Posted in Songs
Today was beautiful! It got up in the 70s. I loved it. :)

The service tonight was from Philippians 2:5-11, living as Jesus; the implications of that; and how Jesus humbled himself to be lifted up... so much could be said :) it was really good, though.

Journey to the Cross by Tim Light & Don Chapman
Man of sorrows, how You suffered,
You were broken for me,
Your appearance, so disfigured,
By Your wounds I am healed.

And I could never know
the price You paid,
And I could never understand
Your pain,

As I journey to the cross
I think of all that You have done,
Jesus, You who knew no sin
Came to die for me.
Taking on a sinners death,
Humble King of righteousness,
Jesus, You who knew no sin
Came to die for me,
You came to die for me.

From the cruel cross
You were taken,
In a tomb You were laid,
King of Heaven, now You've risen,
You have conquered the grave.

And I could never know
the price You paid,
And I could never understand
Your pain,

As I journey to the cross
I think of all that You have done,
Jesus, You who knew no sin
Came to die for me.
Taking on a sinners death,
Humble King of righteousness,
Jesus, You who knew no sin
Came to die for me,
You came to die for me.

• Apr. 9, 2009 - A few quick words... & Live For You ~ Blue

Posted in Songs

Hello, friends. I almost forgot to post tonight.. whoops. ;).

Could ya'll please pray for me and my mom and dad? We've all got allergies pretty bad and it's miserable :(. Thanks :)

All this week, for the first time ever, we (our church/VH) are "celebrating" Holy Week, by having a service each night, Monday through Friday. It's just like a church service.. we have music, and then a sermon, and the it's been really awesome. Time has flown by so fast, though... I was originally thinking about posting each night about the sermon, but as you can tell, I haven't been able to do so. Here's a recap ;). I can't believe tomorrow is FRIDAY!!

-Sunday morning the sermon was from John (we’re in a series in John) about the arrest of Jesus.

-Monday night was (still in John) about the rejection of Jesus and the trials he was brought through (going to Annas, Ciaphas, and Pilate).

-Tuesday night was about how Pilate rejected Jesus, and then about his beating. We had a clip from the Passion of Christ, only a short one, which showed some of the beating. It really made it come alive again for me… But I don’t understand how people are able to watch that movie more than once. I saw it in theatres and vowed I’d never see it again. But some people I know watch it once or twice a year; I don’t think I could handle it.

-Wednesday night was about the crucifixion – what it entailed, etc. It was truly a very gruesome thing. It made me realize I’m a huge baby when it comes to pain, and I complain so much… yet Jesus went through all that.. for me. What a great God.

-Tonight’s was about the spiritual part of the pain that Jesus went through during the crucifixion, as he took our sins upon himself and became sin for us. Again… wow. After the sermon we played “Mighty to Save” during the invitation, then sang some more songs, ending with “That’s Why We Praise Him.” It was really cool. And I thought about choosing “Mighty to Save” for today’s song, but this other song has been stuck in my head alllllll day, so I decided to use it, instead. However, I can’t seem to find a recording of the song to post for you. It’s a great song, though. Downhere is a great band. I highly recommend you look them up. :)

Let me know your thoughts! I’ll return comments tomorrow… I need to get to bed!

Live For You ~ Downhere

I'm moved by this grace again and again
Your love so complete how can I explain
I want to live for You
Oh, I want to live for You

With wonder and beauty and mystery and meaning
Filled with your joy, oh, hear me sing
I want to live for You
Oh, I want to live for You

The rhythm of your presence beats steady in my soul
Let this be my prayer as the melody rolls
From my heart into yours

This is all I have to give You back in spirit and truth
I want to live for You
All of my days from here to ever after
From this life to the new
I want to live for You

Every morning your mercy is new
I know as the sun rises into the blue
I want to live for You
Oh, I want to live for You

I know without shadows, I love without fear
You are so faithful, I see it clear
I want to live for You
Oh, I want to live for You

Prepare now the mission
Plant in me a dream
I'll give You back the life You've given me
All You've given me

This is all I have to give You back in spirit and truth
I want to live for You
All of my days from here to ever after
From this life to the new
I want to live for You

This is all I have to give You back in spirit and truth
I want to live for You
All of my days from here to ever after
From this life to the new
I want to live for You

This is all I have to give You back in spirit and truth
I want to live for You

• Apr. 8, 2009 - Worthy is the Lamb ~ Purple

Posted in Songs
I've decided to post a song a day until Easter. Enjoy :)
I will be posting and returning comments soon. :)

Worthy is the Lamb, by Hillsong

Thank you for the cross Lord
Thank you for the price You paid
Bearing all my sin and shame
In love You came
And gave amazing grace

Thank you for this love Lord
Thank you for the nail pierced hands
Washed me in Your cleansing flow
Now all I know
Your forgiveness and embrace

Worthy is the Lamb
Seated on the throne
Crown You now with many crown
You reign victorious
High and lifted up
Jesus Son of God
The Darling of Heaven crucified
Worthy is the Lamb
Worthy is the Lamb

• Mar. 20, 2009 - Bluetree ~ How about blue? ;)

Posted in Songs
I'm going to posting a more detailed and interesting post soon... trust me! For now, enjoy the lyrics to a new favorite of mine, by an Irish group, "Bluetree" :)

God of This City

You’re the God of this city
You’re the King of these people
You’re the Lord of this nation
You are

You’re the light in this darkness
You’re the hope to the hopeless
You’re the peace to the restless
You are

For there is no-one like our God
There is no-one like our God

Greater things have yet to come
Greater things are still to be done
In this city
Greater things have yet to come
And greater things have still to be done here

You’re the Lord of Creation
The Creator of all things
You’re the King above all Kings
You are

You’re the strength in our weakness
You’re the love to the broken
You’re the joy in the sadness
You are

For there is no-one like our God
There is no-one like our God

Greater things have yet to come
Greater things are still to be done
In this city
Greater things have yet to come
And greater things have still to be done here

• Aug. 19, 2007 - Hide My Soul

Posted in Songs

Sorry again! You'd think i was terrible at blogging, but i have a good excuse... i have another blog that i mainly keep with (http://360.yahoo.com/drgnfly1010) and truth be told, i kinda forgot about this one until WalkByFaith IMed me... (whoops!)..plus i've been very busy lately! lol..

well, ne ways, I recently came across an old cd that i absolutly LOVE! it's by Avalon: "In A Different Light." Have any of ya'll heard of that one? it was released in '99. i love all the songs on that cd, but i think my favorite two are "Only For the Weak" and "Hide My Soul." Here's the lyrics to "Hide My Soul"

Here I am with nothing left to say
How can I even speak?
All my dreams
Lie scattered like ashes beneath my feet
Can you see the pain behind the smiles,
The tears run down my face
Will the sun ever shine on me again?

Where can I hide? oh, oh
Where can I hide? oh, oh
Where can I hide? oh, oh

I will hide my soul in Jesus
I will rest my heart in Him
When the storms of life rush over me
I will not let them in
There will be no pain in heaven
But for now and until then
I will hide my soul in Jesus

Now I know there's nothing I can do
Nothing that I can say
You alone are the anchor of my soul,
Don't let me slip away
Can you see all the pain behind my smile,
The tears run down my face?
Will the sun ever shine on me again?

Where can I hide? oh, oh
Where can I hide? oh, oh
Where can I hide? oh, oh

I will hide my soul in Jesus
I will rest my heart in Him
When the storms of life rush over me
I will not let them in
There will be no pain in heaven
But for now and until then
I will hide my soul in Jesus

another of my fave. avalon songs is "renew me." but ne ways, enuf about music, lol..can ya tell i like it? ;)

church today was really good... i teach sunday school and our lesson was about the exile of judah and that was kewl.. my dad's the preacher (how kewl!) and his sermon was about Jesus showing us how he gives us "life more abundant" - it was titled "ten ten illustrated" and the text was actually john 11, but it was refering to john 10:10... (he's doing a series on john). and then tonite i was with the kids again and we talked about resisting temptation and i was very impressed with the youngest child, 4 years old, because the other teacher tried to tempt the kids to eat the candy i told them not to (i had gone out of the room) and that little boy was so upset! he kept saying "lead us not into temptation!" over and over and getting more and more upset...it was really kewl...and cute... ;)

well, since its so late, i better head to bed...i have a dentist appt in the morning :( yuck... more later!

• Jun. 23, 2007 - Don't Tell Them Jesus Loves Them!!!!!!!

Posted in Songs

My passion is kids...kids that are at risk, or are already in bad situations at home, etc..i love teaching sunday school and i love helping the kids as much as possible- telling them about Jesus. I think that's why i like this song so much...it's one of my favorite songs. Its by Steve Camp, who is not popular at all ne more, lol. This is his website: http://a1m.org

Oh suffering soul, crying out for love
In a world that seldom cares
See the hungry heart longing to be filled
Much more than our prayers
And a young girl sells herself on Seventh Avenue
And you hear her crying out for help,
"My God, what will we do?"

Don't tell them Jesus loves them till you're ready to love them too
Till your heart breaks from the sorrow and the pain they're going through
With a life full of compassion may we do what we must do
Don't tell them Jesus loves them till you're ready to love them too

Oh, the desperate man
Are we reaching for the souls that are sinking down in sin?
Oh, cry for the child
We've lost our passion for the lost and there are billions left to win
And another forty thousand children starve to death today
Would we risk all we have to see one of them saved?

Don't tell them Jesus loves them till you're ready to love them too
Till your heart breaks from the sorrow and the pain they're going through
With a life full of compassion may we do what we must do
Don't tell them Jesus loves them till you're ready to love them too

Why have we waited so long to show them Jesus lives
To share salvation's song
Why have our hearts become so proud that we fail to see
To love them is to love God

And a young girl sells herself on Seventh Avenue
Hear her crying out for help,
"What will we do?"

Don't tell them Jesus loves them till you're ready to love them too
Till your heart breaks from the sorrow and the pain they're going through
With a life full of compassion may we do what we must do
Don't tell them Jesus loves them till you're ready to love them too
