pirates

Pirates

chapter one

Once upon a time I was skipping rocks down by the lake when I saw a body floating on a piece of drift wood I was just about to call for help when I noticed he was a pirate so when he drifted to land I opened his sleeve he had a tattoo on his arm according to it he was

Captain soviet he woke up for a second and said something about a sea goddess named colipso and she wanted to smite him off the face of the earth or something like that well he went back to sleep the moment he spoke the last word . I searched him and found a musket, 2 pistols,, and a circlet . he could’ve killed me so I decided not to tell my mom were I got my new weapons the next day I saw him  send a message bird when he wasn’t looking I shot the letter it was carrying and opened it . to my surprise it wasn’t a letter at all but a treasure map and the treasure was on this very island ! ! I tried to ask him to help me find something he gave me a compass

Chapter 2

Well he said it points to what I want most it pointed to a spot that had blood stains around it that is I once heard that to mark the spot of there treasure they use there men’s blood well he noticed what it pointed to to  so it was a race he said it was cheating if I didn’t run like him which when he runs he looks like a drunk when he runs so we had to do it but then he grabbed a broken bottle and hit me in the stomach and ran off saying “time is gold mate”  then I grabbed my circlet and he took a sword from a grave (apparently the guy had been a British guard) and we started to fight he complemented me on my footwork  and then I grabbed the chest

Chapter three

but then I saw why he was smiling he had the key I didn’t so we kept fighting finally he dropped the key and I grabbed it he ran after me  but I was to fast or so it seemed I slipped and the key and fell out of my hand into a pond I dived after it and caught it but when I came back up I saw ten pirates all pointing guns at my face and I noticed that there had been another thing tied to the bird they said to hand over the chest and key so I did and when they opened it nothing was inside so this is my pirate adventure

   the end

or so i thought "get on my ship lad we need a cabin boy " he said . i had to because they had me hand cuffed . we sailed for a month and found an island and we found a treasure chest with no gold but a map  . it told us to go to the south pole we did and we found another chest it had another darned map . this time it told us to go to the north pole and this time we waded through water but aventelly caption died  and he apppointed me caption so my pirate name became dredded jones . we kept searching and found the north pole chest and of course it had a map in it and this map led to my home island it was there the whole time i just didn't look hard enough so capin died for nthing well thats the end of my pirate adventures for now.

mammoth cave #2

  • When Franklin Gorin and
  • Stephen Bishop, Cave Guide
  • Using a tallow candle, Stephen would
  • smoke his name on the ceiling of the cave.
  • To avoid wax dripping in his eyes, he would
  • use a mirror – and sometimes get the letters
  • backward.
  • of his courage, intelligence, and
  • untiring zeal. He is extremely
  • attentive and polite, particularly
  • so to the ladies, and he runs
  • over what he has to say with
  • such ease and readiness,
  • and mingles his statement
  • of facts with such lofty
  • language, that all classes,
  • male and female, listen
  • with respect, and involuntarily
  • smile at his remark.
  • His business as a guide
  • brought him so often in
  • contact with the intellectual
  • and scientific, that he has

  • Stephen became a free man the
  • following year, but he chose to

Mammoth cave info

  1. Archeology at Mammoth Cave
  • A Changing World
  • to the north, megafauna became extinct, and the local
  • environment changed from a forest dominated by
  • pine, spruce, and fi r to a forest of mixed hardwoods
  • containing oak and hickory. The population of the
  • Indians also increased. With these environmental
  • changes came changes in the ways native Americans
  • lived. Instead of hunting megafauna, they hunted
  • smaller animals such as deer, turkey, and raccoon.
  • They continued to make fi ne stone tools, but they
  • made them in diff erent shapes and sizes, refl ecting
  • the new hunting methods developed to more effi
  • ciently capture smaller animals. Because these descendants
  • of PaleoIndians practiced a diff erent way
  • of life from their ancestors, archeologists have given
  • them a diff erent name:
  • Archaic period dates from 8000 B.C. to 1000 B.C. in
  • Kentucky. The earliest Archaic peoples continued a
  • foraging way of life similar to the that of their Paleo-
  • Indian ancestors. Small groups of related peoples,
  • called “bands,” frequently moved within their hunting
  • territories, collecting various plants and animals
  • as they became seasonally available. Several Early
  • Archaic (8000-6000 B.C.) sites exist in Mammoth
  • Cave National Park.
  • Over time, temperatures warmed, glaciers retreatedthe Archaic Indians. The
  • Over 12,000 years ago,
  • of the North American continent, small nomadic groups of people wandered over the
  • Kentucky landscape. Today, archeologists refer to these early American people as
  • which means “ancient Indians.” However, we know very little about them. We
  • don’t know what they called themselves and we don’t know what language they spoke.
  • We know that they were experts at working stone to make spear points for thrusting
  • into their prey. We know that they lived by hunting animals and gathering plants, and we
  • know that part of their time was spent hunting megafauna (large animals) such as bison,
  • giant ground sloths, and mastodons. The PaleoIndians were a transient people, moving
  • frequently and moving long distances in order to follow animal herds and collect nuts,
  • berries, and other foods that ripened with the seasons. Because these people moved so
  • often and traveled in small groups, there have been few opportunities to locate the places
  • where they camped. So far, only a few spear points of the PaleoIndian people have been
  • found in Mammoth Cave National Park.
  • when huge sheets of thick glacial ice covered large portionsPaleoindians,
  • The First Ones
  • Getting Crowded
  • of bands grew, and the hunting territory of each
  • band shrank in size. The smaller territories and the
  • diff erences in local environments between territories
  • led to the development of more and more diff erences
  • between groups. Members of each band adapted
  • to the conditions, developing new tools and modifying
  • seasonal movements and hunting and gathering
  • strategies to take advantage of the resources within
  • their own territory. In Mammoth Cave National
  • Park, this slow adaption to local environments is
  • refl ected in an increase in the number and types of
  • artifacts, especially spear points, found from
  • Middle Archaic period
  • did not live in isolation. They came in contact with
  • other bands, and they exchanged chert, shells, copper,
  • and marriage partners.
  • As the numbers of Archaic people grew, the numberthe(6000-3000 B.C.). Bands
  • The Miners
  • the numbers of people in this region continued to
  • grow. During the later portion of the Archaic period,
  • the Indians began making pottery, cultivating
  • gardens, and growing domesticated plants. It was
  • near the end of the Late Archaic period that Indians
  • began exploring Mammoth Cave and other caves
  • in the area, collecting minerals they found. Why
  • Late Archaic people traveled miles within Mammoth
  • Cave to collect selenite, mirabilite, epsomite,
  • and gypsum is a matter of speculation. The most
  • likely reason is that these minerals were valued for
  • their medicinal properties and/or ceremonial uses,
  • and that they were traded to other groups for food,
  • shells, chert, and other goods.
  • During the Late Archaic period (3000-1000 B.C.)
