Musings of An Earthenvessel
Apr. 13, 2008 - Back to school tomorrow!

Things have just been so crazy around here that it has been difficult to stick to doing school. I had a horrible migraine last week as I posted earlier. I am determined to get back into our groove this week. To that end, I sat down this afternoon and did some lesson planning. Not that I have to do a lot of prep work, but it does help me to have a written plan.

We are doing Unit 2 of "Bigger Hearts Toward Heaven". Obviously, we just recently started this curriculum. We will also be doing Math-U-See. I have the kids do worksheets for Spelling, Grammar, and Reading Comprehension. Maiden and Knight # 2 are still working their way through My Father's World 1st Grade. Maiden is pretty much finished with the phonics portion of this and is working on practicing her reading skills.

I wrote up a little Excel table with each child's assignments for the week on it. I am going to have them check each one off as they complete it. I also have my Master lesson plan where I keep track of what we are doing.

The sunburns are still tormenting us. Poor Maiden is having trouble sleeping even as I type this. I have blisters forming on my nose. We all decided as a family that we have learned the extreme value of sunscreen!!!!

I better go get some sleep if I am going to be physically and mentally ready for teaching school tomorrow morning!

Ok, don't laugh, but try vinegar or witch hazel on your sunburns. Yes, it smells funny, but wiping vinegar over the affected area really helps cool it down and take the edge off the sting. I know it sounds crazy. I laughed at my mother when she suggested it years ago. But it really does help and you don't have to worry about chemicals!

LOL Someone at church told DH about that yesterday. It seems to be the only thing that is bringing any real relief. We smell like fruit salad, but we always knew we were a little fruity!
