We are healing slowly. I think Knight #1 ended up with sun poisoning. Poor guy! His back looks so bad! I will not describe here what makes me think so, don't want to gross anyone out. We are at the peeling stage now. Loads of fun!
At least the kids have a new toy to take their minds off the burns. My DH is a gadget guy and is really into gaming. He has been wanting an Xbox 360 for ages. Yesterday, he just couldn't stand it any longer and broke down and got one. He got "Viva Pinata" for the kids to play on it.
Oh, as if the sunburn was not enough, Knight #1 has another issue that is concerning me. First I have to share that this child has a long history of health issues starting with a VERY traumatic birth! He had multiple problems at birth including a broken collar bone, hemorraging on the brain, apnea and I forget what all else. I was a basket case for the first few months!
As he grew we discovered he had low muscle tone which caused him to crawl and walk very late and only with physical therapy. I think it was at his 5th birthday check up that his pediatrician saw that he has scoliosis and sent him to an Orthopedic Doctor. He also had Torticollis (head perpetually tilted to one side) for which his "bone doctor" recommended surgery and we opted to go through with. He has had all kinds of tests to check for congenital disorders and such. Praise God all have turned up negative!
Ok, with all this in mind, he has recently started complaining of having 'nails' in his foot. This has been happening fairly often and always in the same foot at the bottom of it. He says it happens when he is both sitting 'criss-cross-applesauce' and regular. So, I took him to his pediatrician this week. She was concerned that the numbness is so localized. She believes that it has something to do with his nerves and possibly the scoliosis. He is due for a new set of X-rays for the scoliosis so she wants us to go get those done to start with. We are also keeping a journal of when it happens, how he is sitting, what footwear he is wearing, etc. I will try to keep you all updated as to what we find out. In the meantime, please feel free to pray for him! The numbness in itself is not a big deal what concerns me is what it may be heralding. |
