I am trying to start a new routine with my kids and me. My three main goals are:
to be more consistent in my quite times
to be more consistent with doing school 4 days a week.
to loose weight!!!
With those goals in view I am going to take the following actions:
Wake each morning by 7:00 at the latest.
Have my quiet time first thing, even before getting out of bed! (I have my Bible and notebook sitting on my nightstand.)
Go spend at least 15 mins on my treadmill (want to work up to 30 mins).
Take a quick shower/apply make-up (wearing make-up is something I have been so out of the habit of doing and want to get back to)
have breakfast
start school!
While I am doing my things, the kids (who are always up by 7:30) will be allowed to watch TV. They must be dressed and have breakfast first. There will be NO video games until after school! It any of them gives me any grief about starting or doing school then they will remain in their room quietly until I am ready to start school the next morning.
I was able to get up this morning and have my quiet time. Spent some time on the treadmill, got my shower and put make up on. I have been eating my breakfast as I post this entry. I am still fine tuning all the details of how this is all going to work. Oh, I also threw a load of laundry in before I got into the shower.
By way of update, Knight #1 is now able to wear a shirt without pain! Praise God!!! We have another picnic coming up at the same beach. We plan to dip the kids in a big vat of sunscreen every 30 minutes this time.
I bought jump-ropes for my kids this weekend. I saw them at my local grocery store and since Maiden so loves to jump-rope and has never had a real jump-rope, I just couldn't resist. Maiden and Knight #2 have both been practicing their jumping. This morning Maiden told me, "Mom, I can hardly walk! Why is that?" I told her it is because she has been exercising! Amazing how the most simple thing as a rope can help a child get the exercise they need!
Sounds like a great way to start the morning! You might want to think about giving the kids a morning routine of their own. Nothing long and complicated, just a few chores. When Jared was smaller, we wrote his on large paper and taped it to the inside of his door. I wrote the words and he drew pictures do he'd remember the words. They're simple things like make bed, eat breakfast, brush teeth, etc. But it helps him remember without me fighting with him everyday, lol! Good luck with your new routines.

A blog of whatever is on my heart and mind that day, particularly in context of being a homeschool mom. Hopefully it will be an encouragement to homeschoolers and also those who don't homeschool.
