They Are Precious in His Sight

Jul. 14, 2008

Now introducing...

...the fam. I have been married to my wonderful hubby David for almost 14 years now! We met at First Baptist Church in Kenner, LA where he was a member and I was a visitor. He and another member (Hi, Chuck!) of the College and Career Sunday School class came over to introduce themselves and they walked up SNIFFING loudly! Yes, I said sniffing. I just smiled at them and Chuck said, "Seminary, right?" I said, "Excuse me?" and he said, "Aren't you a seminary student? I can usually sniff them out right away." Well, turns out he was right on the money! :)

I was a first year seminary student and was the Minister of Music and Youth at First Baptist Church in Grand Isle, LA on the weekends off from school. I was in town for a weekend class so I went to FBC Kenner to visit a good friend of mine. David had been a member there for a couple of years, since he had started seminary, too.

Anyway, they invited me to lunch with the group after church and we all went to Bennigan's. We had a blast, talking and discussing each other's families and school plans and ministry plans. I felt then that God was telling me that this person would become my husband. I know...weird. I didn't fall in love at first sight or anything...it was more just a calm assurance that this was the one and that I should stay tuned to what God had in store for me... I still have the napkin from that day where I tried out my new last name. Jennifer Eastland. Mrs. David Eastland. Rev. and Mrs. David Eastland

And I still love it after 14 years.

I have arrived!

This is it! My very first entry into the world of blogging. Very cool! My children are all asleep, as is my handsome and hard working hubby (who is snoring next to me in bed as I type this), and I should be, too (I know, Mom, "sleep while you can") but I'm excited! I'm no longer a lurker...no longer a silent prayer supporter...no longer a blogger wanna be...I have arrived! But I am tired. So I will close up shop and blog more tomorrow. SO EXCITED...!

Jesus Loves You,

Jen
