Hello! Welcome to Eclectic Education Homeschool! My name is Lynn and I am a Homeschooling WAHM. I write here about my daily happenings at home with my two darling sons. When I am not busy taking care of children, I write for eHow, make pages on Squidoo, and spend time designing merchandise for Lynn's Boutique. I also make free curriculum for homeschoolers to use at Homeschool Launch. I would love for you to check out my work. I hope that this blog will be a blessing to other Homeschool mothers and be a light for my Savior Jesus. So please pour yourself a cup of coffee and sit back and enjoy! Nov. 14, 2007~ Car Questions :) ~
I don't know about your family, but in ours the big questions always seem to hit us in the car. I guess the kids realize we can't run away!
Yesterday, I was driving along with Little One and out of the blue he asked:
"Do you have to take babies back to the hospital to figure out if they are a girl or boy?"
And like any other brave mommy of a curious 5 year old, I squeaked out, "Uhhh...no, honey."
It's funny because it reminded me of a conversation I had with Prince Caspian when he was Little One's age. I was expecting Little One at the time and I got hit with:
"How can they tell if it is a boy or girl if it has no hair?"
I really don't remember what I told him, but it was probably something like your dad will tell you when your older.
The funniest part is, my Hubby is a bigger wimp on this subject than I am, if he had his way, PC would still believe babies were delivered by the stork. I guess it's either fortunate or unfortunate (depending on the view point) for PC that we have several public school children in the neighborhood that have filled him in on the birds and the bees.
Just imagine the questions when little guys see you change their new baby sister's diaper the first time.
Or when you are nursing that new baby....hee, hee.
And yet, my ten year old still doesn't know exactly how those babies get in there except that God creates a new life. He will be having that talk with his Daddy this year.
How so very cute. I don't usually get hit with questions in the car, but I usually get hit with them when Paul's not around. This very morning Paulie talked to me about something, and it seemed he waited right until Paul left. ;) Oh well, Paul usually follows up with what I say when he gets home. :)

My kids are a little older and we were coming home from choir today....there was a news story on our christian radio about condoms in schools... "What's that?" Told them we'd talk about it later. "Why not now", told them, "has to do with sex"...giggles, okay... Oldest was red, he knows.
Please don't be offended, but I will suggest that you buy the book "Where Did I Come From?".
Your post got me to thinking and I did post to my blog about this, I hope you don't take offense to it, I didn't link to your post as I don't want anyone from my blog coming to offend you either. But I do hope that when you read my post that you understand where I come from. My GF is a psychologist and a professor, her and I have gone into great lengths of discussions about this same thing, and I feel confident that I made the right decision (at least for my kids) by having the talk with them. It may be scary, but the book really does help. Best wishes!
