Hello! Welcome to Eclectic Education Homeschool! My name is Lynn and I am a Homeschooling WAHM. I write here about my daily happenings at home with my two darling sons. When I am not busy taking care of children, I write for eHow, make pages on Squidoo, and spend time designing merchandise for Lynn's Boutique. I also make free curriculum for homeschoolers to use at Homeschool Launch. I would love for you to check out my work. I hope that this blog will be a blessing to other Homeschool mothers and be a light for my Savior Jesus. So please pour yourself a cup of coffee and sit back and enjoy! Please also feel free to check out my website, Eclectic Education Homeschool Curriculum, for more homeschool tips. Thank you for visiting!

I like the idea of learning centers, but like so many other homeschoolers, I lack the room. But even with a small space there are some things you can do. This is a portable writing center I came up with for Little One. He's on this writing kick and says he wants to be an author when he grows up. So who am I to hold him back??? lol!!!!
I used a mini cleaning organizer to put the stuff in. Then I added some blank books I made for him. All I did to make these were, I printed out primary lines about half down the paper and printed in landscape. So basically it is blank at the top for a picture to be drawn and then there are lines to write on, on the bottom half. After I printed this out on both sides, I folded the paper in half and stacked about three sheets together. I then folded an piece of cardstock in half to use as a cover. I used my swivel stapler and stapled down the spine to make a book. Then I added some word cards to the center. These I printed out a picture with the name of the picture under it. I cut them down to card size and laminated them. Now Little One has a good selection of words that he can spell on his own without having to ask me how to spell it. Next I put pencils and colored pencils in the center to complete it. Here are pictures of it.

That is past adorable. Also, I agree with butterfly, it was awesome of you to share the pictures. Some of us big folk are visual learners too.Seeing it, made it more desirable. Thanks again for sharing your great idea. Leena
I love this! I did very similar stuff when mine were younger. It is great for school on the go as well. Now that mine are older and into lap books I purchased Expanding Files ( this year I got the 13 pocket ones). The gals can organize all there cutouts and papers, glue, tape ect. in the pockets.
I tell you what! You gave me the weirdest feeling of deja vu. I did the same thing with my boys! But my cleaning caddy was RED not blue, but looked just like yours. I also created my own primary guidelines and left blanks at the top. Works wonderful.
Great minds, I guess. LOL
That is an awesome learning center. My eleven year old is just beginning to become interested in writing and this would be a great idea for him.
Thanks for sharing,
Pam
Oh, Lynn! This is too cool. I just got home from Goodwill having found 2 little totes like yours! Now I know what to do with them, make centers for Trevor. He needs some things to do on his own when I am working with the other two. Thanks!

Well, I thought I'd made it up, too, when I first put it together. But I've discovered throughout the years that truly there is nothing new under the sun. It's the way we use the material that becomes our own. LOL
I LOVE your protable writing station. I will have to look for something like that !! My 3 ds is writing his book too. He is doing such a great job. You are very creative in the organizing department and I love seeing what you do next. Keep the ideas coming !!
