Oct. 21, 2008~ Scrapbook For Artist Study ~
This year I am trying harder in incorporating artist studies. We are starting with a few of Vincent van Gogh's paintings. We are putting together a scrapbook to help remember what we study. So far we have studied "Sunflowers". Here are pictures from our first scrapbook pages:
1. Little One drew a picture of "Sunflowers". This was added to the scrapbook.
2. We added a copy of the real "Sunflowers". This could be an art print, cut from a book, a postcard, ect. We got ours from the back of a calender where they had some smaller pictures of what was in the calendar.
3. We added a short "report". I had to help Little One since he is still at the beginning of reading and writing.
4. I put a title on the page so we can remember the name, the artist and the year it was painted.
If you need to see any of the pictures clearer, just click on the picture in the slide show and it should show up bigger and freeze.
Oh, and I should add, I used a 12x12 scrapbook for this. I picked mine up from Dollar Tree for a $1 and the pages were also from the Dollar Tree. It's not fancy, but it does have a "classic" look to it. It works for what we need it to!
Lynn, This is wonderful! What a great use for a scrapbooking album!
I'm going to link to this on my artist study page.

Hi Lynn, Did not know you were part of this group. Me too but sorta a lurker this year. We did Van Gogh last year. Go to my site and click on Morningstar Art in the right column. I am afraid we have done very little Artist Study this year compared to last. ( all of that blog are last years study) We are doing it along with history but not indepth and certianly not as hands on as I like. I love the scrapbook idea! Very cool! His sunflower picture is very pretty. I love the color choices. He did an awesome job!
I liked this so much I did it with my kids last week and I picked Van Gogh's Sunflowers because it was on the cover of a small book we have. I had to laugh when I came back tonight to comment and saw I even picked the same work you did, LOL.
