Mar. 1, 2009~ When It Rains, It Pours (Right Into the House!!!) ~
Well, Friday, we had a small disaster. Little One came running down the stairs totally frightened because he heard a strange sound. He said it sound like sizzsizzsssizzisizzzz... Well, I went up stairs to investigate and as soon as I got up at the top I heard a very loud static sound. I could tell it was coming from either PC's room or the school room. I peaked into the school room and to my horror, I saw my boom box being rained on!!! It was in the process of shorting out!!! Well, I knew I had to get it unplugged or something before it possibly started sparking. The wall plug unfortunately was located under where the water was coming in. Luckily, it was also plugged into a outlet strip that was over to the side and I was able to flip the switch off and it stopped shorting out. I called my husband and let him know what was going on. I then went down and flipped the circuit to the room incase anything else took a hit. Later, a roofer came out and said we need a new roof. *sigh* The only good news may be, that this was wind and ice damage and the insurance may pay for it. Please pray for us if you get a chance that the insurance company doesn't wiggle out somehow. We really do not have the money for a new roof. School that day consisted of computer and educational shows!!! Thank goodness for PBS!!! lol!!!
The rest of the weekend was a little less eventful! PC was sick, so he didn't spend the night this weekend, but he was better by Sunday so we took him out to dinner. It was an enjoyable, but short time. Little One unfortunately, is having trouble sleeping now. He is getting terrified and we think it is because of the events on Friday. It is making it very hard for Hubby and I to relax in the evening.
Well, I hope everyone has a great week!
So sorry that happened. But I'm glad that you could get things turned off without any other problems. I do hope that your insurance will cover it. New roofs cost so much. I will be praying for you.

yikes! I'm glad you caught the source of the noise before things got worse! I'll definitely pray the insurance covers your roof - and that your little one will be able to sleep normally again.
Oh boy! You did have your hands full! No wonder LO is having trouble sleeping at night. I pray that your insurance company will pay for the new roofing.
Blessings, Karen
Yikes I am glad no one was hurt! We just had some damage from the major wind storm that hit the mid west/east coast area. The insurance had to pay a couple thousand dollars. They were really good about they just wanted clear evidence of damage and then they sent a check. I hope your insurance is as nice!
God bless

That's just crazy! We have a leak in our roof, too. We rent, but it still has to be fixed. Maybe you could buy a new boom box before a new roof? That's the silver lining....
