| In two communities in southern California, elementary students are going to have to make up 34 days this summer because of a clerical error. They are being tough with the schools, so schools don't try to shave off 5 minutes here and 5 minutes there. So they want to set an example. Well, it's the kids that are going to suffer here and their families. Hopefully, some of them will pull their kids out and homeschool them over this!!! It's so ridiculous. The stupid part is, they had to have 180 minutes of instruction to make it a "day" and many of the days they had to make up is because they only had 170- 175 minutes. If I was in that district and I had to give up going on vacation and cancel airline tickets and such over a 5 minute discrepancy, I would just yank my kid out of that school!!! It's ridiculous!!! | That is hard to imagine. Things seem to be getting more and more ridiculous in public school bureaucracy. |
