Hello! Welcome to Eclectic Education Homeschool! My name is Lynn and I am a Homeschooling WAHM. I write here about my daily happenings at home with my two darling sons. When I am not busy taking care of children, I write for eHow, make pages on Squidoo, and spend time designing merchandise for Lynn's Boutique. I also make free curriculum for homeschoolers to use at Homeschool Launch. I would love for you to check out my work. I hope that this blog will be a blessing to other Homeschool mothers and be a light for my Savior Jesus. So please pour yourself a cup of coffee and sit back and enjoy! Please also feel free to check out my website, Eclectic Education Homeschool Curriculum, for more homeschool tips. Thank you for visiting!
Jul. 13, 2009~ Back to School Plans with Resources Attached ~
It’s hard to believe it’s that time of year again.Summer is more than half over, school supplies are in the stores and there is just over a month until school starts again.I am starting to put together my yearly school plans for my soon to be second grader and thought I would share some resources and what are plans are.
First, thought, I would like to mention that I could really use your help.I know a mother whose daughter is best friends with a child that has been missing since June 26th.Lindsey Baum left her best friend’s home before dark to walk the 4 blocks home and never made it.Her family is desperate to find her.You can help by going to this website:http://www.squidoo.com/find-lindseyand take a moment to Twitter it, bookmark it, put it on Facebook or MySpace, email it or whatever way you want to share it.It’s really important to get the word out.So far there are no leads, but I’m sure someone, somewhere knows something and it’s just a matter of the right person seeing the news.Just visiting the site will help it get seen more.I am not making any money on this lens, all proceeds to the lens go to the Polly Klaas Foundation which helps find missing children.Anyways, please take a moment to visit: http://www.squidoo.com/find-lindsey
Ok, back to my Back to School plans, please keep in mind, I’m not finished with them yet! They will probably change a dozen times before I’m satisfied with them.
Bunch of Second Grade Resources. I will be using this a lot!
I am planning on studying the beginning of America from first exploration to the pioneer days. We will be keeping an interactive notebook, a timeline and doing some Pocket History books. We will continue to read The Little House Books.
I am also planning on using The Magic Tree House books this year, but I don't have the study guides done yet. I will post it to my blog when I get further along in that project.
Science
I will be using the Magic School Bus books, but do not have the study guides done yet. I will be doing an interactive notebook with these stories.
I would love to know what you are planning for this year. If you have your plans written out in a blog, please leave a link to that blog post. And please don't forget to visit the Lindsey Baum page, getting the info out could save her life. http://www.squidoo.com/find-lindsey
I just read another blog that was talking about getting things ready for this fall. I don't even allow myself to think or plan for any school thing until the beginning of August. I finish things off in May/June. Writing notes, setting ideas up for August, then I close it all and put it away and give myself a summer break too. I'll start to look and finish planning from the spring time in August. Until them, I'm still on summer break too. I'll have to try and come back in August to this post to get some good ideas. :)
I think just getting it all down somewhere helps me with the planning process. I will post about our school year soon. I am almost ready. I just need money to order some books, as usual! I've always wanted to see those History Pockets. They look neat. You guys should have a great year.
