Hello! Welcome to Eclectic Education Homeschool! My name is Lynn and I am a Homeschooling WAHM. I write here about my daily happenings at home with my two darling sons. When I am not busy taking care of children, I write for
eHow, make pages on
Squidoo, and spend time designing merchandise for
Lynn's Boutique. I also make free curriculum for homeschoolers to use at
Homeschool Launch. I would love for you to check out my work. I hope that this blog will be a blessing to other Homeschool mothers and be a light for my Savior Jesus. So please pour yourself a cup of coffee and sit back and enjoy! Please also feel free to check out my website,
Eclectic Education Homeschool Curriculum, for more homeschool tips. Thank you for visiting!
Aug. 19, 2009~ First Day of School! ~ |
We survived had our first day of school today. It wasn't our best day, but not our worst one either. We had some timing issues that were my fault, but they threw things off. PC got some of his independent work done last night. We are also going through A New World of Adventure together. I am adding a lot of supplements since he is on the very upper edge grade wise. One of Little One's favorite things today was I started reading him The Magic Tree House: Dinosaurs Before Dark. I had planned on just reading the first chapter, but ended up reading 3! We will be doing an interactive notebook along with the Magic Tree House books. Go here to learn more about interactive notebooks: http://www.squidoo.com/interactive-notebook Here is a page of resources for Dinosaur Before Dark: http://www.squidoo.com/magic-tree-house-dinosaurs-before-dark-study-guide I was truly surprised how still he sat for the story!!! He is usually a wiggle worm. lol!!! We also read The Magic School Bus' dinosaurs book and read the story Madeline. We will be doing an interactive notebook page for both of those too. Yes, we use a lot of interactive notebooking!!! lol!!! If you want to see more of our plans, please see my Back to Homeschool Post.
I also wanted to mention if you haven't checked it out, that CurrClick is having an awesome Back to School sale right now. Click Here to go to their site. |

Survival is good for a first day. :-) We had a great first week or two and now the reality is setting in that this is not going to go away for a long, long time. Attitudes with Grace are my biggest challenge right now. But, we will work it out. So, you said that PC did his independent work? Does that mean his joining you at home?

I ran across your blog today and thought you might be interested in my most recent post, Homeschooling Defense, at www.bedlamorparnassus.blogspot.com.
I shared it with a friend of mine whose wife homeschools, and he appreciated it very much.
Enjoy!
