Our Curriculum

My DD10 is in 5th grade and besides for our CC memory work she is doing Saxon 6/5, Essentials of the English Language, IEW, Our Mother Tongue, Spelling Plus and her copywork is from our Bible memory verses.  Right now they are learning the 10 Commandments.

DS8 is in 3rd Grade and is using Saxon 3, and everything else my DD10 is doing, just at a slower pace.

DS6 is in 2nd Grade and is using Exploring Mathematics and the same as above, at a slower pace also.

DD5 is in Kindergarten and is about to start Horizens K math, right now we are finishing up our Rod and Staff books from last year.  She is using the Abeka Handbook for reading and Learning Language Arts Through Literature for her Phonics/Language.

We are going through The Story of the World for history, creating science notebooks from our CC science memory work and using the book, 201 Awesome, Magical, Bizarre and Incredible Experiments for science.  We are using Drawing With Children for art.

So far everything has been smooth and we have had so much fun together!!!

Finishing up our third week...

We have had such a wonderful start to our school year!  Monday we attend our Classical Conversations classes.  I am a tutor for Journeymen class.  I have one of my sons and three other boys in it.  I love my class!  They are very wonderful boys!!  The kiddos are all in different classes and they have really enjoyed the fellowship with other kids their own ages.

Tuesday we start our week at home and in the evening my DD10 and I attend cake decorating classes.  This was her birthday gift from my husband and I.  We are really enjoying it! Then we are off to her volleyball practice.

Wednesdays through Fridays are pretty routine, we have church and my DS8 and DS6 are playing sports also. We got to their games/practices throughout the week.  It makes for a pretty busy week sometimes, and this Mama is so thankful for a rainy Saturday today!! I am enjoying the rain, coffee and my littles!!

Birthday Party!!

We had my oldest daughter's birthday party last night.  She turned ten, and wanted a tea party.  I have been making her cakes since her first party and this is the cake I made yesterday.

I have been learning to make roses and this was my first try...I really enjoyed it!!  She had a good party and all the girls enjoyed the gift bags.  I went to a second hand store and bought old china cups and saucers and stuck chocolate in them.  They looked so pretty!!!  We played old fashioned parlor games and they love charades:o)
