Confessions of a Homeschool Mom

Feb. 14, 2006

Another day, Another headache

It seems that this is becoming the story of my life during this season.  Would I have chosen this path for me?  Not on your life.  But then, I don't always know what is best for me.  I have to trust God to know what He is doing.  Submission. It is always about submission.  Your will, God, for mine.  You, God, know what is best for me.  And I accept that, whatever it is.

Actually, I've had some fairly decent days.  I have been able to get up and around, at least in the afternoons.  It may not sound like much, but after spending all day every day in bed, I'm happy.  Homeschooling is going better, also.  That is except for my sons' math.  One is in algebra 1/2 and the other is in algebra 2.  I have a hard time doing and explaining algebra while I have a headache.  We are at a loss at what to do about that.  But then, it comes back to trusting God to know what He is doing.  I know He will show me the way.

I went to the ENT (ear, nose and throat) dr. today to see if maybe the headaches were caused by sinus problems.  They're not.  I'm not surprised- I really didn't think they were.  My next step is a chiropractor and dentist.  Maybe by then the neurologist will see me.

Thanks for your prayers.

I picked you as the winner on my mom, Jeannie Fulbright's, blog!!!! It was hard to choose, but I read your blog and I know what it's like to have headaches. I get them whenever I put hairspray in my hair - and I have to do that everytime I go to ballet - and I have a headache the WHOLE TIME!!!!!

Just send my mom an email with your address. Her email is jeannie@jeanniefulbright.com

Feb. 19, 2006 - Headaches

Posted by Anonymous
I was just browsing, and as a fellow Christian mom, I understand how you struggle with headaches while trying to maintain a healthy home and family life. Ever since my son was born (his name is Noah, he's 2) I have been plagued with really bad headaches. It got to the point where I was taking 4 Advils EACH day! I have gone to the chiropractor (very good, but you need to go 3 times a week. When I stopped, my headaches came back - with a vengeance!), stretching, pilates, regular workouts, lots of water, a little caffeine, massages (so far the BEST help in reducing frequency), prayer, stress relievers (Bible time, worship, hot baths, etc.)...

Please keep praying and try some of these ideads. I will send a prayer up for you and hope you are better soon. In the mean time, this method remedies me in about 2 hours: Pray, take an Advil, get your husband/friend to massage your upper neck and shoulders, go to a dark room, grab a cold cloth, cover you eyes and try to sleep in the quiet. And then just keep praying...

Hope this helps!

Feb. 19, 2006 - Have you tried DIVE?

Posted by Anonymous
Have you tried the DIVE CD-Roms to teach Saxon? They are excellent. The instructor is very gifted at teaching. They may be just the help you need in teaching Saxon. They can purchased at many home school supply stores online, one of which I own. But I am going to send you to the publisher directly just so you know I am not just trying to get a sale. The publisher website www.diveintomath.com

Your blog is a huge encouragement to me. I'm not bedridden nor do I have any chronic conditions, aside from the crummy human one I was born with. But being able to watch someone else live her days honestly and with always a struggle upward fills me with the courage and hope that maybe I can be the same.

Thank you.

About Me

Homeschool moms are not perfect! Sometimes we imagine every other homeschool family has "it all together". Well, guess what? Mine doesn't. This is a journal of my journey through homeschooling. It's not all pretty, but it's all life.
