• Oct. 28, 2008 - 27 Days to Go... but who's counting?!

Posted in Pregnancy

27 days left until my scheduled c-section on 24 November!!!!  I can barely believe we have less than a month until we get to see Baby Boy's little face.  I often wonder who he looks like... I've come to accept that our girls look mostly like me -- according to Sean.  But I really hope Baby Boy looks just like Sean.  No matter what, he will be such a precious blessing, just as our other children are.

Today was my 35 week appointment and I gained only one pound since last time -- YAY!  So far I have gained a total of 34 lbs, but it's a bit late in the game to worry too much about it.;-)  My abdominal measurement was on target for 35 weeks and Baby Boy's heart rate was 135bpm.  He has also settled in the head down position.  My next appointment is in 2 weeks, 12 November.

We have most everything we need for Baby Boy's arrival.  My last shopping trip will be for toiletry & medicine cabinet items like baby soap, infant tylenol, etc.  I have his bag pretty much packed for the hospital.  Mine is a whole different story.  That probably won't get done until a day or so before we leave for the hospital.

Arielle and Rachel continue to be excited about their brother's impending arrival.  They drew pictures of themselves and the baby and decorated his bedroom door with them.  Every night they tell my tummy goodnight before they go to bed.  Sean plans to take off a couple weeks after the birth.  I am so grateful because I will definitely need his support as we adjust to the newborn stage.

Thank you as always for your continued prayers on our behalf.

In Christ, Talya

i feel like a child about to receive presents. "our" son will be here soon! you know we've all been going thru this with you, 'cept we can sleep on our stomachs if we want to. lol

the only thing i wished i could do during the final months when i was as "big as a house" (dontcha just love the euphemisms to describe out pregnancy)~ was i wished i could unzip my belly at night and lay it on the night stand next to my Bible of course, lol, and then zip it back on in the morning. oh well~

here's to a joyous thanksgiving indeed :o)

btw, were your girls also delivered by c- section?

...sleeping on your stomach. I miss that so much!:-) Nighttime is a difficult time. Aside from going to the bathroom every hour on the hour, the Herculean effort it takes to flip from side to side in bed is tiring!

Thanks for embarking on this countdown with me, Angela. Yes, I had c-sections with the girls, so I really don't have much of an alternative at this point. Sean and I joke that maybe I will go into labor at home and the baby will come so fast that I have a healthy, natural delivery at home before the EMT's arrive... thus avoiding a 3rd c-section! That's a long shot of course... so off to surgery I go in three weeks!

We are allowing the Lord to plan our family, but I am a little nervous about c-section upon c-section upon c-section. Well, it's not like the Lord isn't aware of the risks and His plans for us, so why should I worry?

In Christ,
Talya

hey talya,
i just asked about the c-sections because a sister in our congregation had 3 c-sections and was determined by God's grace to have the 4th baby delivered ******lly. she really wanted to experience what it felt like to push a baby out, and God blessed her to do so. she was so overjoyed to have the baby that way.
however, little brother comes~ we'll be rejoicing at his arrival.

I would love to deliver the "old fashioned" way. I tried a VBAC with Rachel but ended up with a c-section after 17 hours labor. The cord was wrapped around her neck causing major heartrate decelerations with each contraction.

Many docs are reluctant to allow you to try to labor after you've had more than one c-section. To hear that someone was able to do it after three is such a blessing.

I read an article that many women are turning to homebirths to circumvent restrictions placed by doctors, but it's risky. I will really pray about this issue when the next time comes.;-) And hopefully we'll be in the US where I will have more options. I've pretty much resolved myself to the c-section this go around.

are you saying that you, sean and the girls are planning to come to the states to have the baby? if you're not here when your son comes, would he have dual citizenship?

• Nov. 4, 2008 - US citizen all the way

Girl, when I posted the ultrasound pictures in July, I tried to type the eh hem.. proper name for the male genitalia, but it was edited out... so I had to be more creative.;-) I guess they don't want crazy people to be able to look up our blogs by searching for potentially freaky terms.

Oh, baby boy will be an Italian-born US citizen. I'm not positive about the dual citizenship issue. I'm attending a class on Wednesday where I may get more official word, but I don't think he'll have dual citizenship. When I mentioned being in the US to give birth, I meant if we are blessed to have another child later, not this one.;-) Sorry, I was unclear.

In Christ, Talya

*11/6/2008 Update - No dual citizenship. Got official word that Baby Boy will be a US citizen only.:-)
