Q: What is your favorite night-time snack?

a quarter of a lemon in hot water, served in my glass mug that looks like a mason jar, and a chipped enamel bowl full of popcorn.(presentation is everything)

Q: If you could choose 3 comfort items to take with you for a year on a desert island, what would they be?

My bible, a stack of notebooks and pencils and my teakettle with a crate of tea.  Whaddya mean that's more than 3? You see, I occasionally lose the ability to count , especially when I want to go through the express checkout line at the grocery store.

Q: Why did you choose each item?

Well, not only is my Bible God's method of communicating with me, but it's also an inexhaustible resource of really great human interest stories.  The notebooks and pencils..Oh, I could keep myself happy for a long time with those.  Write...draw pictures...and can you think of 10 things to do with a piece of notebook paper besides write on it?  Betcha I could.

Tea...well, life without tea just would not be worth living, and I'd need to keep that "will to live" alive for a year.

And can I just say....this is all sounding like a really nice vacation right about now.

Q: What is your first memory?

Well this is going to sound bizarre.   I was born in Trinidad, where my parents were missionaries.  When I was a toddler we lived in a 2nd storey apartment above a "rum shop" - the Caribbean equivalent of a bar. My earliest memory is lying on my belly on the balcony floor with my older brother and dropping marbles off the edge of the porch trying to hit patrons entering the rum shop on the head, without being seen.  I'm really not making this up.

Q.  What is my favorite book? (btw, I'm just adding this - those victims that I tag next - you don't need to answer this)Well, the Bible truly is my favorite Book.  I cannot imagine not having it, and I try to memorize portions so that if the day ever comes that I can't own a Bible I'll still have lots of it in my head.

My 2 favorites:  THE LAND REMEMBERS by Ben Logan - it's a beautifully written, educational and moving account, broken down by season, of growing up on a Wisconsin farm a couple of generations ago.  I LOVE IT.

FIFTY ACRES AND A POODLE by Jeanne Marie Laskas - if you're a town girl who has moved to the country you will love this book.  It's definitely not a christian slant, and at times she could be considered irreverent, but it's a GREAT read by a fantastic "stream of conciousness" style writer. I laugh out loud, and sometimes cry, every time I read it.  I LOVE IT.

And finally, I just found the best book at the book store (but I'm going to buy it from Amazon - $20 instead of $35)  It is the MARY JANE'S IDEA BOOK, COOK BOOK, LIFE BOOK by Mary Jane Butters- a big beautiful hardback full of all kinds of wonderful things...recipes, quotes, how-to's, crafts, old fashioned games, and gorgeous pictures.  A real compendium of everything I love. Even one of "our own", NotQuiteJuneCleaver, has her wonderful line of soap featured in this book.

So, there you have it.  I'm off now to tag the first 5 that come up in a random blog. CYA,  Eleanor

ok, my 5 victims that came up are: JungleJim, QueenofChaos, eclecticmama, TheWilkinsonAcademy, and Cornflower

I'm so glad you mentioned this...I have been wanting and wanting this book, but didn't know if it would be worth it to buy it just yet. With your comments, I know I must. LOL
OH, I loved Fifty Acres and a Poodle! There's a sequel too, I don't recall the name now but it was grand as well.
