One Day at a Time

Jun. 6, 2007 - Summertime!

We are going to continue homeschooling through the summertime with tweaks to our schedule as needed!

I do want to update this blog more regularly to document our days more digitally.  At least I hope to try!

So this week, after three weeks off for:

1.  One for stomach flu in the whole family and the accompanying cleaning and laundry nightmare!

2.  Preparing the house for company and Izzy's first communion.

3.  Recovering from said first communion and surviving dance recital week and the Memorial Day Weekend.

we are back at it!

I'm starting the week slowly with just reading from our third Martha book (Down by the Bonny Glen) and math and spelling.  I also managed today to get some reading in with Noah.  My hope is to have all of the mathbooks done by the time we see Dr. Holinga AND to have them reading a bit better by the time we see her too.

I did pay NOah and Gabe $5 each to complete a reading book on their own. I'd like them to continue through the summer (although I'm going to give a prize at the end of the summer for books read!)

We'll see how it goes.

So today, Noah, Gabe and Sam all got math done.  Noah and Gabe did spelling as well.  Sam did his science and piano.  I read to everyone from the Martha book. Tonight after dinner I will work woth Izzy!

I have been paying 50 cents for each book summary written after reading a book!

We also homeschool during the summer, but at a much lighter pace.

About Me

Pr 1:8 - Hear, my son, your father's instruction And do not forsake your mother's teaching; Ohio Law says: "An academic assessment report of the child must be sent to the superintendent annually. This report can be the results of a nationally normed, standardized test or it can be a written narrative indicating that a portfolio of the child's work has been reviewed by a certified teacher." This is our "on-line" portfolio! I hope to turn this into our chosen certified teacher, Dr. Karen Holinga, for her to review for the end of the year assessment.
