About Me

A mild-mannered homeschool mom who is faster than a speeding flash card, more powerful than a mega-workbook, and able to leap tall unabridged bilingual dictionaries in a single bound! Look! Up in cyberspace! It's a flamenco skirt! It's an irregular verb chart! No, it's just me, and it's time to learn Spanish.

That is the plural form.  It you are just wanting to say this to one person, it would be "diviértete" (dee-vee-AIR-teh-tay).  Have fun with this one. ;)

¡Ten cuidado!

Posted in phrase of the week

Photobucket

Phrase of the week:
¡Ten cuidado!
(tehn kwee-DAHD-oh)

Be careful!

Technical note: "Ten cuidado" is singular.  If I were saying "Be careful!" to the people in the picture, I would use the plural form, "Tengan cuidado".  "Ten" and "tengan" are the command forms of the verb "tener" which means "to have".  The expressions "Ten cuidado" and "Tengan cuidado" would more literally be translated as "Have care".  Can you imagine cautioning your young one to "have care" when riding off down the street on a bike?

Phrase of the week

Posted in phrase of the week

Photobucket

Here's a new idea I'd like to try: a phrase a week.  Let's work on one phrase at a time, and try to incorporate it into your week.  I will try to make sure I pick phrases that you might really use.  If you have a suggestion, by all means let me know and I will include it!

Vamos a desayunar - (BAM-os ah des-ay-UNE-are)
Let's eat breakfast! - or - Time for breakfast!
