I'm dreaming of a white...Easter?!

Ah, spring.  Who can deny the feeling of relief they feel when the season finally rolls around?  After all, there are many wonderful things to be experienced: the sight of fresh, green buds poking their way out of the earth, the sound of birdsong wafting through the wakening trees, the cramp one experiences whilst shoveling foot-deep snow off one's driveway...

Yes, you heard that last one correctly.  Just when I thought I had Mother Nature figured out, she goes and pulls a big one on me.  Ha ha, very funny.  Spring hasn't been around for three days and the whir of snowblowers is already present in the air.  Again.

Not that I'm against snow or anything---it's my very favorite of God's creations, and a huge inspiration to me.  (Just ask Nimrodel!)  But this surprise blizzard has thrown me off a bit, I confess.  But, as Mister Cool so quaintly put it: "This is probably the last snow of the year, and since there's nothing you can do about it, you might as well enjoy it."

I shall try, Mister Cool...I shall try.

On a lighter note, I hope everyone had a wonderful Easter!  Mine was somewhat gloomy, as most of my family fell sick the night before and couldn't go to church the next morning.  My heart especially goes out to my mom---she had really wanted to go, but had to stay behind with the sick ones, when she herself hadn't fallen ill.  But aside from that, it was a pretty nice day.  I don't know if I mentioned this, but our church recently bought a new building after renting office space for seven years, and this was the first Easter service held in it.  Everything was just gorgeous, and my dad delivered a fantastic sermon.

I would write more, but it's high time I was preparing for bed.  A huge thanks to everyone who commented on my last post---you guys are totally awesome!

Until our paths next cross,

Tinuviel

Good grief! That is so funny that you had snow on Easter! It was nice here, not exactly warm but nice enough.

Reminds me of my St. Patrick's Day. It's the green day, and I wake up to snow. And my dad got sick on Easter, so we also stayed home. Interesting coincidence.

Tut tut - you're taking longer to update that I do! In theory I would love to live somewhere where it snowed, but in practice I can see that it may become somewhat of a pain. Here we don't get snow, being to close to the coast and too low, but half an hours drive and some two hours walk away is a beautiful mountain range we sometimes hike up in the winter, which gets covered in snow. It's really a far more practical way to enjoy it, as we get to play in it all we want, yet don't have to shovel it or live with the mud when it melts. And we can return to our nice warm houses and enjoy the grass. Seriously, New Zealand is the best. You should move here. ;)

I agree with Mister Cool. In theory, that is. Profound statements like that sound magnificent, but are often rather difficult to put into practice... *sigh*

As for adventures while driving, in my ineffably humble opinion, driving in residential areas is the scariest of all. Open road driving is super easy as you don't really have any traffic to watch out for, all you have to do is keep your car on the road. That, also in my eternally humble opinion, is even easier on American roads, as they are a good twice as wide. Californian ones, of course, are excluded, especially those in LA. The road there is a hazard in itself, and that's not even taking in the wild drivers. *shudders* No offence to Californians, of course, they have my utter respect. The bravery, the raw courage they must posess to drive such roads, the skill it takes every day to survive them... well, it blows me away.

;)

The minibus does sound pretty scary, though.

Ah, yes, when my family were in East America we were amazed at the deer we saw roaming in residential areas. It was quite cool, actually. Deer here stay right in the mountains, as people shoot them if they're seen anywhere. Yes, I understand your hesitation about shooting animals. I too would feel the same, apart from the fact that they're destroying my country. You see, because New Zealand has no real preditors (unless you're a fly) of it's own, we have nothing to kill the possums or deer or rabbits, so they run wild and can breed themselves into an epidemic if their numbers aren't kept down. It's hard to shoot cute little fuzzy animals, but it must be done. Such is life.

Heh, I wouldn't call you morbid for liking a bit of angst and tragedy. More that a bit, even. I'm not that hypocritical! ;) I'm glad you enjoyed it. I think I will try a bit more sometime, but at the moment I really need to do some lighter stuff or I'm going to drive myself entirely into a sorrow filled, hopelessly tragical rut.

Blog on!

Quote of the Week

Thank goodness I was never sent to school, it would have rubbed off some of the originality.
