The night was calm and still,
In Eternethia of old,
A growing glow came from a hill,
A wind swept up untold,
And the glow grew larger still.

It devoured the trees around it,
And still it kept on growing.
Everything around, it bit.
It’s light for miles was showing,
And all around was lit.

It soon spread far and wide,
Growing to be like a dragon.
The men grabbed buckets of water, the women ran to hide,
No body was laggin'
No one their time did bide.

But still it devoured all;
The water could not put it out,
Helpless on it did it fall.
"Fire!" did every one shout.
"Help!" did every body call.

The battle raged, long into the night.
The women were full of tears,
The men their hardest did try to fight.
And still the fire grew with their fears
To a dizzying hight.

Rain at last came falling down,
For God had heard the please,
From many a town,
Of countless men upon their knees,
Who feared all would be left, would be an ashen mound.

Then it was that they beheld the contrast,
All was stripped of trees, all was bare.
They all to work went fast,
They rebuilt the town, and planted trees with care,
And worked so hare, one can not now tell what befell there in the past.
