An Explaination for my Prolonged Disappearance

Well, hi everybody and sorry for being gone as long as I have.  If I said the usual "I've been too busy" it would be a lie, because I spend a good deal of my spare time on Facebook.com.  Sad, eh?   And as Anony said, we've been doing loads of fun things together(actually, I'm over at her house right now looking forward to more heinous deeds tonight) and that eats up my weekends.  And during the week I spend a good deal of time doing school, especially writin, because I'm taking a creative writing class at a public school (gasp!)  I definitely like homschooling better, but it's been interesting to see what public school is like and my class is pretty good.  And on a rather random note, I'm looking forward to suprising the world by wearing a dress to church tomorrow, something that doesn't happen often.  So, I guess that's all folks!  Hopefully I'll be on more often in the future!

Space Explorers

---This story is a narrative of something I was playing with my siblings and cousins, hence its utter weirdness.  The main characters are as follows:

Myself, whom I shall refer to as Leaf-  I, simply because I am the most well-read and experienced one out of the four of us, am usually a major contributor to the storyline.

"Blair-" My 13 year old brother.  He's not terribly imaginative, mostly he just likes to shoot things whenever we do stuff like this.

"Nicole-" My  ten year old sister.  She likes to contribute to the plot, as long as she is the priamry character.

"Maria-" My crazy six year old cousin.  She is a very livewire type of thinker, and always adds something, um, interesting to the story.

This time we are interplanetary explorers sailing outside the reaches of the solar system just to see what we find.

The setting: a state park, or more specifically, a playground that looks like a wooden ship next to a lake with lots of geese---

"They're shooting at us!  Leaf, fire the DNA cannons!"  Blair shouted from the helm.
"But Blair, we don't know what kind of creatures are firing on us.  We would have to program the cannons first, and we can't do that without living tissue.  Let's just launch a bio bomb."
"Okay.  You do that, and I'll steer the ship."  As soon as Blair finished vocabulating his sentence, another, younger voice came up from below.  "Captain Leaf!  Captain Blair!  There's a planet up ahead!"
"We saw it, Maria.  Wait a minute," Leaf  squinted out the helm's window, "there's a whole fleet of them!"  *a flock of geese walk across the beach and into the water*  "Open fire!"  Leaf joined Nicole in the ship's hull and they launched a few more bombs.  They could see the planet more clearly now, as they chugged along at 60,000 miles per second.  It appeared to be half covered in water, and the other half covered in city with small patches of purple and green.  Nicole put the ship's shields up, and they cruised into the atmosphere.  The air readings were almost identical to earth's, so Leaf presumed they wouldn't be needing any air tanks or special suits.  Blair leaned over the railing and asked the three girls, "So, who's going down?"
"I think we all can if we want to, we'll just lock up the ship and program it to respond to voice recognition."  Leaf said as she passed out laser pistols.  "Everyone ready?"
      "Yep."
      "Yeah."
"Yeah."  They locked up the ship and carefully walked down a trail of some sort, keeping a watchful eye for any of the aliens.

A Long Tag

I am tagging myself right now, since I am incredibly bored right now, and it's killer hot outside.

Grab the book nearest to you, turn to page 18, and find line 4.

"Give me the people and keep the goods for yourself.(Genesis something)"

2.Stretch your left arm out as far as you can. What can you touch?
a sewing machine

3.What was the last thing you watched on TV?
Oh, that was a while ago.  Probably the Spurs vs. Cavs game.  I didn't watch it, but I came down here while my brother was.

4.Without looking guess what time it is.

I'm awful at this.  4:00

5. Now look at the clock. What is the actual time?
3:49

6. With the exception of the computer, what can you hear?
Blair talking, a chair creaking, and the AC blowing upstairs

7. When did you last step outside? What were you doing?
A few minutes ago.  Jumping on hay bales with Blair

8. Before you started this survey, what did you look at?
my blog.

9. What are you wearing?

A green mountain dew t-shirt, my only pair of girl shorts, socks, and a pair of hiking boots that I absolutely love.

10. Did you dream last night?

I think so, but I don't really remeber anything about it except that this one kid I know cut his hair.

11. When did you last laugh?

On a bike ride, when I was thinking about something one of my friends said.

12. What is on the walls of the room you are in?

A map of the world, and map of the US, a picture of a combine(farming equipment) that belongs to my brother, and some pictures of football and basketball players(again, my brother's)

Oh goodness, never ask me this question.  I really couldn't tell you without thinking about
 it a while.

I like eating pickle relish straight out of the jar.  I know, how disgusting.

18. If you could change one thing about the world, regardless of guilt or politics, what would you do?

Put God back in the government and schools

Sort of.  I like crazy dancing, but ballroom dancing with guys is just awkward.

20. Comment to George Bush.

Don't look at the political cartoons or editorials

21. Imagine your first child is a girl, what would you name her?

I really don't know.  I don't exactly plan on getting married until I have thoroughly enjoyed being single.  Plus, it would be hard to find someone that would be willing to put up with my weirdness for the reast of his life.

22. Imagine your first child is a boy, what would you name him?

I like the name Wade Peregrin, or maybe Brent James, but like I said, I don't exactly want to get married.

23. Would you ever consider living abroad?

Definitely.  I love to travel, but I'd like to have a sort of home base to come back to every once in a while.

24. What do you want God to say to you when you reach the pearly gates?

Whatever he means to say to me.

25. 3 people who must also answer this on their blogs:

She Dragged Me Into Something Again...

My room is a mess.  The floor in between my twin bed and my younger sister "Bonjackmo's" (an old nickname, don't ask) is scattered with little Playmobil people, the usual clothes and pillows(part of the "relaxed atmosphere"), a plastic, open-up Pooh Bear house, an ancient, barrel-sized video camera, camera gear, and a few very edited pages of a script to The Fellowship of the Ring that my sister got online.  Some of the Playmobil men are wearing the ladies' hair,  including one scruffy-looking pirate man sporting a long French braid, and the one girl who still has her own hair is wearing an old ring of mine that has a heart and a diamond on it on her head.  None of this madness is my fault, believe me (except for a few of the clothes and maybe one pillow.)

Bonjackmo, who always happens to come up with ideas for ways to express her inner performer, usually concerts and short movies, decided to drag me into her latest production; a Playmobil version of the Fellowship of the Ring.  My part was relatively simple at first, I was supposed to man the camera, but then it morphed into quite a monstrous burden, I had to film, provide voices for Frodo, Sam, Merry ,Pippin, Lobelia, and everyone else except for Gandalf and Bilbo, move the people around (very difficult while trying to film), and control the music.  So it had pretty much turned into a one-man show, only my every move was dictated by a cruel mistress.  Fortunately, we had only gotten as far as Bilbo's party when she announced her boredom as well as her annoyance at my incompetence, so I left to continue chiseling away at the mountain of schoolwork I still have left.

And, I was tagged by AuhtorElf!

Seven things I love doing

Reading, Writing, inner tubing, blogging, hiking, driving the ATV, thinking.

Six things I don't like doing

Vacuuming, schoolwork that I've nearly forgot about for two weeks, babysitting my crazy little cousins, algebra, genetics, and chemistry stuff.

Five of my favorite books

LotR, the Bible, Out of the Silent Planet, That Hideous Strength, and Mere Christianity

Four things that scare me

Stewed tomatos, mountain lions, rattlesnakes, and Elijah Wood.

Three actors/actresses

I don't know, I guess Johnny Depp is really good, only he's a little scary too.  Billy Boyd is pretty good too, and, well, idk.

Two movies I like

I’ve got to pick just two?  LotR, because it's so darn good, and the old Star Wars movies, because they're fun to watch and critisize, even if you like them.

One thing that is special to you

Hmm, I could say something very typical, like my Bible, or my friends, since I love them both so, but I'll say my insect collection.  It represents a lot of hard work, I have some really cool bugs in it, and it was fun to make!

Eight people I'm tagging:

Whoever wants to do it.

A Story

This is just a little something I wrote for a writing class.  It's definitely not the greatest (I wasn't worried too much about the quality of my writing), and it might not make sense, but I hope you enjoy it anyways.  Just in case you're wondering, the green words are ones I had to work into the story.

“Come on you two!  We’ll be late for the Cupcake Parade!”  Seven year old Mango Neon skipped along the sidewalk ahead of two boys, carrying a plastic singing bass she had just bought at a booth.  It belted out “Heartbreak Hotel” in a deep bass whenever the red, metal button on it was pressed.  This happened far too often, in Rio Garcia’s, the latter boy’s, opinion.  He loathed Elvis Presley.  He and his best friend Elijic Davies had beamed into another world, called Galaxaria, three days ago.  Their sometimes annoying neighbor Mango had followed them in, putting another responsibility upon their backs.  She turned around.  “Guys, if you don’t hurry up already, we won’t get good seats!”

“Mango, among the three of us, I don’t know if we have the right amount of money to pay for the parade.” Elijic pointed out.

“Well, between me and my friend here,” she allusioned to the fish, “we have seventeen dollars, and-” She dumped some coins out of his mouth, “thirty-nine cents.  So there.”

“But Mango, earth money isn’t any good here!  And I’m about ready to throw that singing fish of your’s up on the roof!”

“I won’t let you!  Anyway, I think his dark green and white coloration complements my shirt.”

Later, the trio continued down the street, gazing at all the amazing booths and displays at the 300th annual Shoggawog Day Festival in downtown Euroto, the capital state of Galaxaria, the world they were in.  Shoggawog is a holiday celebrating food, and fun.  The month-long celebration in Euroto attracts denizens from all over the universe; including the three kids.  They passed by an illusion stand with holograms dancing to a disco-like song on a base made of chocolate, then a stand selling some hamster-like animals.  Mango smiled as a white and black one sniffed her finger through the cage bars.  She gave the boys Bambi eyes.  “Please?”  She sniffed a little.  “Please can I get him?  He likes me.”  Her lip started quivering as she squeezed her eyes to make them water.  Elijic rolled his eyes.  “No.  Stop that, I said no.  N-O, that means no!”

“P-p-please?  See, he comes with a little basket that you hang on your arm, and some food, and a water dish, and a little toy, and, and- PLEASE?”

“Fine.  How much does he cost?”  The kid selling them glanced at him.

“Five meldias.  But for you, we’ll accept four.”  Elijic turned to Mango.

“That’s almost all the money we have at the moment.  Sorry.”

“You and Rio could find jobs, then we could get him, and go to the parade.”  She sniffled a little more, and blinked back tears.  Elijic sighed.  “Fine, whatever.  You choose that one, right?”  He handed his most of his capital over to the boy, who in return handed him the little animal in its basket.  They walked off, Rio with his hands in his empty pockets, Elijic shaking his head, and Mango triumphantly strolling along with her fish in one arm, and the hapless rodent in the other.  “Look at him Rio!  Isn’t he the cutest thing you ever saw?  I’m gonna name him Lily-left-foot, because his front left paw is white, and he rest of his leg is black.  But I’ll call him Lily for short, or maybe I should call him Left, or maybe even Foot.  What do you think, ‘Lijic?”

“I think that if they had begging in the Olympics, you’d win the gold medal.”

“Really?  What a compliment!  Maybe we should start a petition to get it in, and you two could be my trainers, and we’d go out to the track every day, and I could practice on you so I get all ready!  Then we could go to Beijing or Vancouver, except I don’t know if it would be a summer or winter sport.  Have you two chose where you’re gonna work yet?  The parade starts in fewer minutes than it seems.”  Rio, in a less patient mood than usual, whispered,

“Elijic, do you think that maybe we could leave her at the parade?  It’d give us a few hours of freedom.”

“Sure.  Ahem, Mango, we’re going to let you go watch the parade, okay?  Go over there, sit down, and don’t move for any reason, ‘kay?”

“Okay!  I’ll be good, I promise.  Can I have the ticket money now?  I need to hurry up so I can get past that crowd heading over there.”

“Here.  And be sure to tell us how well the Riliance Marching Orchestra does when we come get you.”  Mango skipped off while Rio and Elijic trudged along in the opposite direction.  They found a job near the capitol building cooking fattening whirly fries and healthful quimndie shrimp for customers with more-than-healthy appetites.  Soon, Rio decided to emigrate outside of the hot trailer, and slumped against the wall, exhausted.  He picked his head up.  There was some sort of commotion going on on the other side of the little building he was leaning on.  Rio climbed up a nearby ladder to see what the hubbub was about.  He couldn’t believe his eyes- Mango was riding on the biggest float of all, with the Cupcake Queen crown on her head, and the mayor of Riliance sitting next to her.  A huge banner across the front of the chocolate frosted float said “Immigrate to Riliance.”  Rio ran across the roof and down the other side right as the float went by.  Mango waved to him.  “Hi, Rio!  Guess what?  This float won the contest, and I was crowned the Cupcake Queen!  I won 10,000 meldias!  I’ll meet you when the parade’s over.  We still have twelve blocks to go!”  Mango let go of a few hundred green and yellow balloons, and the crowd cheered.

Rio made his way back to the food stand and told Elijic what he just saw.

“I just don’t believe it.  Here we were slaving away while she’s winning money and riding on a float!  It’s just not fair!”

What I've Been Doing

Well, me and my brother and sister started shool again yesterday.  I don't have a whole lot to do yet since Co-op hasn't started yet, which is nice.  I've been having some bad writer's block lately, although some good ideas might be just around the corner, because I've been searching through my old notebooks for imaginary friends.  My 10 yo sister thinks, very erroneously, that she has gobs more imagination than I do, so to resolve the matter we made a challenge: make a list of all the imaginary friends you've ever had, and whoever has more is probably the more imaginative.  We aren't allowed to use imaginary animals that can't talk or think intelligently, or see each other's lists.  We're using the term "imaginary friend," very loosely, saying that an imaginary friend doesn't necessarily have to be your friend, just a loose ally, or someone who's not an outright enemy.  It's been pretty interesting, so far I have about 1,020, and that's only from 4 of my many notebooks.

I bought the Charlie and the Chocolate Factory soundtrack last week.  It bugs my family i nothing else, but I love it.  It's great listening while I'm writing

I was recently shown these glorious potc 3 pictures by an internet aqquinatance, which sent me into rounds of crazy jubilation.  So, I guess that's it for now.

A Pointless Ramble

Um, I've been fairly busy lately (it is that time of year) and that is why I haven't posted in a while.  I'm working on an idea for a story (no actual writing down, yet) but there's a lot of minor characters that I'm trying to weed out or make useful.  I recently found  these character questionairres that I like.  Yesterday I accidentally came across this scary site where you can marry your favorite characters online.  Out of curiosity, I checked some of the more weird people to see if anyone had married them.  Forty people had married Davy Jones, 119 had married Dib, countless multitudes had married GIR, and I didn't look at any others, since it was too horrifying.

A couple days ago I was playing with my younger sister.  It started out simply enough, we were fighting Uruks the steep hill in Princess Bride, then I got knocked down and she came running after me.  I was mostly dead when I reached the bottom, so she took me to Miracle Max's and gave me a miracle pill (a sweet tart)  I coudn't swallow it without water, so she got a cup and basically drowned my face in it.  Humperdink lived in Minas Tirith, and he had her locked up in his castle and he was going to throw her in the river. (But she played as Westley and Inigo most of the time, and this took place after the movie did)   When I woke up Inigo said, "My name is Inigo Montoya.  You will be my wife."  I was all floppy for a while, and I refused to hold onto Inigo's arm becuse I was afraid that my sister'd make a minister pop out of nowhere and marry us.  Then my brother joined us, and he dragged my sister down the stairs, and we had to go eat, so the game sort of stopped, thankfully.

The Princess Bride

After not seeing this movie for several years (seven, to be exact,) I decided to rent it from the video store.  I thought it was okay, definitely not up to lotr's standard, but I didn't hate it.  One thing that reallybothered me was Buttercup's complete uselessness.  Like in the Fireswamp, when the ROUS was gnawing on Westley's shoulder, she just stands there and watches her true love suffer when she could be stabbing the thing with the sword and helping him.  And instead of telling Humperdink that she wasn't going to marry him and running off, she just stays there.

Vizzini was probably the character I remembered most vividly.  I, however, forgot about how he looked like he was wearing football shoulder-pads, and how short he was.  I had also forgotten about Fezzik and Inigo, and the albino who looks like he dunked his head in a flour barrel, and most of the later half of the movie, including one of my favorite parts, in Miracle Max's and Valerie's house.  ("He distinctly said, 'tu blave', which as we all know, means, 'to bluff.'")

So I'd give this movie two and three-fourths stars, I guess.
