I'm reading a book called Undying Glory by Clinton Cox: A story of the Massachusetts 54th Regiment. It's a little like The Light and the Glory (read about the Light and Glory in my moms blog) but its only about the 54th regiment of the Union army in Massachusetts. And the regiment only had black people in it. Here's a recruiting sign:
"TO COLORED MEN "Wanted. Good men for the 54th regiment of Massachusetts Volunteers of African descent,Col. Robert G. Shaw (commanding). $100 bounty at expiration of term of service. Pay $13 per month,and State aid for families. All necessary information can be obtained at the office,corner Cambridge and North Russell Streets. Lieut. J.W.M. Appleton, Recruiting Officer."
I reccomend this book to anyone who is interested in the Civil war. |

Almost two years ago,mom found out she was pregnant again (a few months after a miscarry) and was very happy. I think a few a days later,we went out to celebrate (mom was still thinking of a name,even though we didn't know what it was yet). She didn't want to use Evelyn or Ephrium because that's what the miscarry was supposed to be named. Note: she wanted to name Eran Grant just Grant like Cary Grant,but we got her out of that! Well, one day,we went to the hospital to have the ultra-sound. The nurse said "There's the back,the head,see right there." We all waited intensly. Then she said "It's a girl!" And mom said "Are you sure,check again." And the nurse said "Yes it's a girl!" And then we went home.
Then,on July 29, mom,dad,Zeke,and I went to the hospital and left the other two with someone I don't remember! And at 11:30 p.m.,she came out. And then we went home and lived happily ever after. |

Chapter Four (continued)
Emil took aim and shot. It hit the lions head. The lion pushed the arrow off his head and charged. Emil took aim and shot again. It hit it's foot this time. Then the lion fell on his back fell on his back Emil took out his knife and stabbed the lion,hard. then he heard "Charge!" Emil spun around. Larmor and the others were coming back with some people they had lost on the way. Emil took aim and shot. It hit a wolf and it died. "Good job," Arhan said "You could become a good archer someday." Arhan aimed and shot two wolves. "Does the lion cost anything?" Emil asked while shoot three wolves. "Possibly." Arhan said while shooting two more wolves. "I'm starting to think someone trained these..oooff...animals." Emil said while being thrown down by a wolf. "Be careful...urgh..ouch..of these wolves,they're very dangerous." Arhan said while being pushed over by a wolf and the falling on Emil. "I can see that." Emil said while getting up. They both laughed. That morning they started off again. But Eriamor was wounded so they all had to take turns holding him. The fortress was big with wooden spokes sticking out of the ground in front of it. The moat was big enough that an army could across it 5 rows at a time. When they got to the moat, a voice called down "Who are you?" The army of archers!" Eromor yelled up. "If you are the archers,you could hit this!" the voice said while letting down a target. Arhan aimed and shot the target and the gate went up. They got in and took care of Eriamor and he gradually became well.

Chapter 4
When Sarnor was out of sight,Emil asked Eriamor "Why did you tell him your king had a son?" "So we'll have somebody to defend,that's why." Eriamor told him "Larmor and Orhan," Eromor said "Split up and tell everyone to go to Origer!" "What and where is Origer?" Emil asked Arhan "Origer is the the great fortress of this country," Arhan said "And it's a few days walk from here,unless we keep taiking like this!" That night,Eriamor ordered a patrol and Larmor,Orhan,Arhan,and Eromor were chosen to go. Emil ate some food, flung himself down,and went to sleep. When Emil woke up,it was still dark,and he could hear a low,bellowing sound. So Emil got up and saw what was making the sound. It was a huge animal that looked like a lion (which indeed it was). And then Emil looked behind him and saw twenty or more wolves running up the hill. Emil ran for his bow. He aimed and shot. It hit the lion in the foot and Emil grabbed his knife and charged. The lion turned around,grabbed Emil,and threw him into Eriamor. Eriamor woke up and pushed Emil off. Then Emil threw his knife. The hilt hit the lion square in the chest. Then the lion bellowed loudly. That woke up everyone up. Emil again jumped for his bow. Then he heard "Release arrows!" and what seemed like hundreds of arrows flew in the air!!

After telling them the whole story, (well,almost) Emil asked "May I have a bow and quiver?" "If you want to stay alive you should," Eriamor said while giving him a bow and quiver full of arrows " We have very dangerous wolves." "Take this also," Arhan said while giving Emil a knife as long as his arm."This is for the most feared ronoor." "Sir,there is someone here to see you." a man said. "Thank you Eromor," Eriamor said "Let him come." A man walked up and said" I am Sarnor,slave of Herand,the man who should this world!" Emil took out his knife."Steady." Arhan said. "Why should this Herand rule the world?" Eriamor asked. "If he did we would have peace!" Sarnor said. "Could that be true," Emil asked "Could there be peace forever?" "Tell your master," Eriamor said "That he cannot be king,because the king has a son who is turning eleven in a few months."

This book has 16 chapters in all,Craig,and the book is called The world of Vulcan OK?
Emil got nervous. He thought he'd die the minute he stepped out of the rocket. The rocket was pretty close to the planet now, so everybody could see it. Emil knew the next day they would be landing on it! And the next day,they were! Emil could see land and lots of patches of water. The computers said there was enough oxygen on the planet so they didn't their oxygen suits. There was a man bigger than Emil,so he went out first. Still puzzling over another planet with oxygen,Emil glued his eyes on the man. Well, except when he blinked. When he opened his eyes,the man wasn't there! Frantic with worry,Emil got everyone together and they went out. Emil saw a gray flash,heard a scream,and one man was gone. Then the others went too! Except for one who went into the rocket and locked the door. This time Emil got a look at the gray flash. It had 4 legs,and pretty much half wolf,half lion (they were called wolves,but Emil didn't know that now). Then Emil saw a shower of arrows and spears. The animal whined and ran off. Then men (understand,men!) ran toward Emil with bows and arrows and spears. "Halt!" said a voice. Emil turned and saw a man with a short goatee ( Note:like Aragorns') and a big bow as as big as Emil. "What is your name?" the man asked. "My name is Emil," Emil said "I came in this ship to your planet." "Likely story," the man said "Arhan,bind him" Emil was bound tightly. Then,fortunately,the rocket fired up and left. The man unbound him and said"I'm Eriamor,did Arhan bind you tightly?" "No," Emil said "Why?" "Nver mind why," Eriamor said"You have a story to tell"

So Emil started his search for a job. He found a sign that said "Help wanted at NASA,call this number" So Emil found a quarter on the road and used a payphone to call NASA. They said they'd hire him if they could get a good look at him. But he didn't know how to get from New York to Florida. To make things quicker,he ended up mowing lawns and trimming hedges and pulling weeds for elderly people at one dollar a job. Let's skip the part with the mob of angry children chasing him to downtown New York city (the children charged $1.50) and how he got back without being ambushed by children and go to where he runs into the airplane to get away from that mob of the same children. He got so much money he go to ride 2-class. He got to NASA and they hired him to be an astronaut for the trip to Vulcan. After being trained,Emil was quite sure he could survive on Vulcan. He decided to enjoy his lfe while it lasted. He got no comfort. Once he turned the radio on,and it said that scientists saw more life forms on Vulcan. And the 50,000,000 didn't look alien-like!!
At the day of the lift-off,Emil was (unexpectedly) excited. He got into the rocket,which had 8 chairs and 6 beds. He barely sat down before he heard the countdown. 5! 4! 3! 2! 1! Lift off!!!!!!

One day,while he was looking through the clutter for a sweater (for it was cold) he found a remote that seemed to work on the television (which it did). Forgetting how cold he was,Emil tried to find the "on" button,and he did and pushed it. A little green light under the screen lit up but the television did not come on. So Emil (who really wanted the television to come on) pushed a button with the word "mute" over it. The television came on,to Emil's delight,but he couldn't hear anything. Fruturated,Emil pushed the "mute" button again. And this is what he heard:"A new planet has been found,scientists call it Vulcan," the voice said "And now for sports." So Emil heard about sports and then "This just in,scientists found life forms on Vulcan a lot of them," said the voice "And there approximately 50,000,000 and growing,and it's following "orbit trail" of earth." So then Emil turned the TV off and put a sweater on and went outside (not forgetting his pipe and matches) and saw everyone at work. He walked up to one person and asked " What's everyone doing?" The person looked and said "Workin' for money,so they can live." Emil found that he was broke and asked "How do you get work?" The person said quickly "Look for a Help wanted sign and call the number under the words and ask them if you could work for them."
That's the end of chapter one. I'm actually reading it out of a note book while copying it. What do you think? |

I've been wanting to put a chapter on my blog but mom said you'd get tired of it but I don't think so!!!
Chapter one
Once in a city and in a room there lived a man. He didn't know what was going on outside this room,nor did he care. This man's name was Emil. A curious name,probably because not many people had that name,or maybe he was born an orphan without a name and named himself that that so people wouldn't talk about him, even thuogh nobody knew he exsisted. His room (through all the clutter) had a mat, (in which to sleep on) a chair, (in which to sit while smoking his pipe on)and a television (even thuogh it as never turned on) that isn't very much bigger than a tissue box and about ten years old
Well that was the first paragraph,like it???

You might need some tips on playing Luke in Star wars. Do you think it's funny to make Luke whiney like that??? Oh,and Anakins step-brother shouldn't be that old in episode IV!!! Lukes aunt shouldn't be that old either. Oh,and speaking of old,should Obi-wan look so ancient in episode IV?!?!?!?!?
And Padme'...why was she so weepy in episode III??? I mean,in episode I,she was doing very well at not crying!! And in II,she actually fought in a battle!!! And why did she marry a punk like Anakin anyway? She knew he was being bad!

Well,today,we sure had a FUN (so called) time at the store. Of course today is Ethan's birthday (many happy returns Ethan) so only mom.Mimi,and I went while Zeke,Ethan,and Eran stayed at home. Mimi was fussy so I put her on my shoulders while mom payed for the food. Then suddenly,Mimi started slipping off my shoulders and onto my back. I tried to pull her back up...but it was over. She went too fast and fell slowly off me. I grabbed her coat,twisted my wrist,and slowly let her down. She cried while looking at me like "You little wretch,I'm not getting back on your shoulders..ever!!!!!!!!!". But then this evening,she begged me to let her on my shoulders.
Ethan's birthday went very well. He's going to watch Lord of the Rings for the first time tonight..yay Ethan!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I learned a little bit about typing today...Zeke got a typing instructor for Christmas and we're using it for a part of school.
I also got a lot of presents...thanks for the playstation II Gram!! I got rollerblades and I could try them the day I got them!! Isn't that cool!!
We also went to see Narnia last Friday..Zeke said it would be boring but I want to watch it again!
Today I went outside with Ethan..he got a scooter..and rode around and raced and did things like that.
Zeke wants his turn so see ya!

Well,yesterday I didn't get to write because something went wrong and then I had to get of the computer because I'm given a small amount of time.
Tomorrow we're going to Narnia at 1:00,so we'd probably get home late so I might not write.
Have any of you heard of Needhams? They're candies with coconut,patato,and it's all smothered in chocolate! The other day mom made some and dad said they're better than his moms' needhams.
I finally have slippers on. Some other people have to use the blanket so my feet were freezing,until yesterday when mom bought the slippers.
We have maybe more than twenty presents under the tree...well maybe some of them are leaning against the wall so there is maybe fifteen presents under the tree.

What if I told you that there isn't any snow here at all! Well,I told you,after church yesterday,some people from Florida were saying how cold it was and I was saying how warm it was and by noon it was pretty warm out.
Mom and I are still a little sick but other than that,we're fine!
Oh yes, we're going to watch Narnia this Friday,it maybe Christmas eve for some of you,as it is for us. Mom was saying that Nascar stank until yesterday,SHE ACUALLY SAID SHE MISSED IT!!

I watched Elf last night with the rest of the family ( my mom rented it) and it was so funny! I REALY liked the part in the end when Papa elf ask Buddy if he could hold her (meaning the baby) but then Buddy said "Why don't you hold both of us?" and he sat on Papa elf's lap.ROFLOL!!!!!!! Oh yes,and when the elves sent Buddy to the toy testing room and every time he tried a Jack-in-the-box it would jump him. Hilarious!! And when Buddy called his dad up and said"Dad,there's this thing across the room that's making weird noises!" and then his dad said"that's the heater,it makes weird noises when it comes on." LOL! And when that lady asked him "Do you like sugar?" and then Buddy asked"Does syrup have sugar?" and the lady said"Yes." and Buddy said"Then YES!" LOL! And he drinks a lot of Coke and burps maybe half a minute!!!

We can't watch Narnia today. Ethan's sick and Eran's sick and Mom's sick and Dad's at work so we can't celebrate Ethans birthday today.

In three days The Lion,the Witch,and theWardrobe is coming out in theaters but we'll watch it Monday with some friends. We're doing it for Ethans birthday. We're also going to a pizza resteraunt maybe before or maybe after the movie.
I wish I had a picture of our new house in Marion but I geuss I'll have to describe it instead. It's a two-story house with a HUGE deck that goes from the side of the house to the back of the house. I can look out the window from here and see it.
I've been studying the hundred years war because it was a war with the French and English battling for royalty matters. The French king died so Prince Edward III (the "black prince") of England tried to seize the french throne. My favorite battle is the battle of Agincourt when Henry V commanded 900 men-at -arms and 3,000 archers. Even though the French had a lot more men they were all shot by archers. Who do you think won the war? The English won the most battles but the French won the last battle. I think the French won (maybe because I'm half French LOL) what do you think? |

Yes,I'm back on line (cheering,aplausing,etc). I couldn't write on Saturday because the cableman didn't come (booing,growling,etc). Well,at least he came today..it took him an hour just to get things hooked up but he came.
Mom's making beef stew tonight,we had quit red meat a long time ago (gasping,yelling "what",etc)
Oh yes,our aunt,cousin,and grandfather are flying down from Maine just-to-see-us!! (gasping,yelling "oh my" etc)
