Giving My Best for Him

We are complete in Christ

Hello friends... I suppose I finally came to the conclusion that I need to update this blog more often than I have been doing. I like to bless people with encouraging posts and thoughts and such and perhaps now I just need to do something about keeping these things up. :)

Today I was listening to a testimony called You Are Complete in Him, whilst having a rest on my bed... it's one I have heard once before and I really enjoyed it, so I decided to listen to it again. Basically it was the testimony of how this one young man, tried looking for fulfillment in the things he thought he enjoyed, but never did.

At a young age, he took up skateboarding... through years he got better at it and when he finally graduated from high school, he told his father that he was not going to be going on to college right away, but instead he was going to pursue a skateboarding career and become a professional skateboarder. He left his home to pursue his "dream". He reached his goals, but soon found out that he was not complete and fulfilled in what he was doing.

He left it all behind, returned home, to his parents' house. His father, who was desperately wanting his son to go on to college asked him immediately if he would enroll in a college. He obliged. Soon, however, a friend of his, who had also wanted to become a professional skateboarder, came to his house, asking his friend, if he wanted to join another couple of people in starting a band. He didn't know the first thing about music or how to play an instrument, but was told that he would play the bass. He didn't know what a bass was... or how to play one, but that is when his friend told him that he didn't need to know, because they were going to be a punk rock band.

This guy then thought to himself...what a waste of years, skateboarding.. of course I'm not complete in skateboarding, I'm complete in music. His friends and himself soon were travelling around the country... people showed up to hear them play.. they were awful, but everyone loved them. They went on tour, same thing. Then one day, when he was alone, he realized... he was not complete or fulfilled in music either.

Later on, he soon came to the conclusion that all his friends were happy, because they had special people in their lives... so he then thought that that too is what he wanted and having someone in his life is what would make him complete. He got to know the sister of the drummer from the band he played in and soon they had been together (boyfriend & girlfriend) for about 2 years. She moved off to college... he then told his father that he wanted to go to the same college, as to obvious reasons... she was there. Months went by and one day, his girlfriend, who he thought made him complete, told him that she couldn't be with him. He got depressed-- really depressed. For 3 months, he had a routine of going into his room, putting on some music, lighting some incense and sitting on a chair and staring at the opposite wall.

One day, as he was about to do this again... he walked over to his CD player to put on the music... but he heard a voice telling him not to. He didn't know what this voice was, so he obeyed... he then walked over to light the incense... but he again heard the voice telling him not to. So he didn't. Lastly, he went to go and sit on his chair... but he heard a voice telling him not to sit down there, but to rather move to the other side of the room. He went and sat down on the other side of the room. He had a whole new perspective-- instead of staring at a wall, he was staring at his bookshelf. He would read through the titles of the books... and one day he came across a book called The Great Controversy, and a voice told him to go and get the book. He thought he had nothing to lose, so he got the book and began to read.

To conclude... he was lead to Christ. He realized he was not complete in skateboarding, music or a girlfriend, he was only complete in Christ. He gave his life to Christ.. and actually at the time, he was studying to become a doctor, but the Lord told him that He had enough doctors and rather needed a pastor. So this man, whose name is David Asscherick, became a pastor and is preaching God's word today.

So that sums up the story... and I really, really like it! It is so, so true that we are not complete in our own daily things. The only thing we are complete in, is God. Sometimes I think that if I can just do a certain thing, or get a certain thing.. perhaps even reach a certain goal-- I will be happy and satisfied. The fact is though, it's not true.. Satan likes to deceive us and he will do anything to snatch us away from Christ. It might be a small thing, or it might be something not quite small.... but it doesn't matter how big or small it is, the only thing that matters is that we come to the realization that God is the only way out. He doesn't give up on us either... like this story I listened to, this man took a good many years trying to find fulfillment in something, and all the while, God was waiting for him to turn to what ultimately gives fulfillment and makes one complete-- and that is God, Himself and God's ways.

This really encourages me... it proves over and over how God is also, faithful! He'll get to you in the end... and He will never ever let you down. Sometimes I also think, "where is God?", but He's always right beside me and you and whenever we are doubting that fulfillment really comes from Him, or whatever it is...we need to ask Him to give us the reassurance. He will do it. Might not be instantaniously, but reassurance He will indeed give, if we ask.

I also sincerely hope that this encourages each one of you, too. Whoever you are, whatever nationality you are, whatever colour you are-- God loves us equally and even when we do wrong, He is waiting for us to run back to Him, because that's how much He loves us and that's how much He wants to make us complete. He won't give you once chance and if you miss it, you're done for and you can forget even trying to find Christ again. He's there all the time, waiting to make you complete in Him - our only source to true happiness. :)

In Christ,

Taryn

Thanks for reminding us that we are complete in what God wants for us, and not in what we think we want. Seems like we are so foolish sometimes in that we think that doing things our way is going to make us happy - we have a lot of unlearning to do! How much we need to stop and focus on what God wants for us....and He will be faithful to complete His work in us. I was blessed once again by reading this - thank you. Love Mom

Thanks for the reminder. How true, we are only complete in Christ. Christ has & holds our every need in life. Without Him, our life truly is not complete because He is our very breath in life.

Thanks for the reminder. Without Christ, our life is not complete. He has & holds our every need in life. Without Christ, we have no life because He supplies the very breath of life in us.
I would like to encourage you Taryn to keep being the mouth-piece God desires you to be. He has great works for those who desire to follow His every will. Keep hungering & thirsting after Him. This world desporately needs more people your age to take a stand for God. We need Spirit-filled teenagers to be a light in the dark times of teenage life today. I encourage you to obey God and keep being the mouth-piece He desires for you to be. Always follow every direction He leads & guides you in life. Because remember, our life is only complete in Him. God Bless your life & Ministries, Traci

Gone But Not Forgotten!!!!

Hi Taryn! This really encourages me & reminds me of a time of sadness. I was 17 yrs when my parents divorced. I was in a state of confusion & turned my back on "Christ" (Big Mistake!). I was in a backslid condition for 21 yrs. But "Jesus" never turned "His" back on me! "He" faithfully sent "His" Obedient Servants to me to witness to me, to pray for me & plead with me to come back to the "Lord". I resisted time after time until "He" finally got me!!!!! Thanks be to "God" for not giving up so easy!!!
This is why I urge you to push through all the discouragements, hindreths, hurts & setbacks. Always go forward & never turn aside. Be a wise "Soldier of the Cross" & learn to recognize the warfare tactics of the devil (fear, confusion, discouragement, pride, oppression, depression, self, etc.). Fight the good fight of faith!
"Jesus" needs us to be obedient to the end! To carry the Gospel to the lost & encourage our Brothers & Sisters in "Christ"! Remember, the harvest is great but the laborers are few....... this meant so much to "Him" that "He" suffered & died for this cause. What great love!!!!! Think about it. I was gone from "His" presence but not forgotten! Amen!
"In Him"; Elton
