Here is my young lady, Anna. God has used Anna to teach me much.
The biggest lesson He has taught me through her is that a lady is capable of being diversely interesting. There is a stero-type in the home-school movement that proper young ladies all wear dresses only; homemade and floral preferred. They have tea parties, play with baby dolls and sew. They sing and play but not publically. Modesty is often defined by quiet and plain.
Then here comes Anna. I put Anna in dresses and made her take ballet for years. She always managed to rip her skirts from running or climbing trees. God has gifted her with musical talent. She plays lovely things when I ask but her taste is for contemporary composers. She likes movie music like Lord of the Rings and Pirates. I often call her taste, Horse race or circus music.
Anna can sew but she prefers to build rockets. Cooking... well she likes to try but has a reputation for lighting things on fire in the kitchen.
Her mother does not like sports but Anna is a baseball fan. Her mother doesn't shoot but Anna not only shoots, she hunts and is building a gun. Anna likes to read books about space rather than Jane Austen.
Is Anna a lady? Anna loves warm comfy clothes, chocolate and icecream. She likes monkeys; especially on her Pjs and socks. She likes to snowboard. She likes to drive her dad'd pick-up truck.
She loves babies, wants to be a mom and wears pink. She wears pretty floral scarfs in her hair too. She picks flowers and sings song. When she wears camoflage, she always likes to add a little pink.
Is Anna a lady? Anna is my young lady. She has taught me that God creates His children very differently. His designs are perfect. Ever wonder why there are so many different kinds of flowers? Which one is your favorite? It is probably different than mine. But often when you pick a bouquet, don't you fill tha bouquet with many different kinds and colors of flowers?
I'm very pleased to be Mom to such a lady.
