Chapter Three: The Truth
Anne saw Chris standing at the door and said “please come in Chris. I really need someone to talk to”. “Well I brought you some cookies and your homework” Chris said. “Oh thank you so much. I am so sorry that I missed school I had a big art test” Anne said sadly. “To tell you the truth we actually didn’t do the test today” Chris said encouragingly. “Why not” Anne asked. “Because Mr. Tony was sick. So all we did was draw” Chris answered.
Anne suggested that they get started with their homework. Well they were doing their homework Chris said to Anne “Our family went to see the Daily’s”. “You did what” Anne said shockingly. “We went to visit the Daily’s. Is there something wrong with that” Chris said wondering. “Well I guess I thought that you wouldn’t actually go and visit them” Anne said. “Of course we would go and visit them. Their our cousins” Chris said very confused about Anne’s actions. “Well I didn’t think that you would actually go. I mean they well there our cousins too” Anne said. “You mean to say that you and I are related” Chris asked shockingly. “Yes we are I guess I never wanted to tell you” Anne said apologetically. “Well cousin I guess we should head down to dinner then” Chris said jokingly.
After dinner Chris said that she should start for home. But Mrs. Johnson said “no darling let me take you home. I couldn’t think of what your parents say if we let you go home in the dark”. So Mrs. Johnson drove Chris to her house and said goodnight.
She walked in the front door and told her parents wheat had happened at the Johnson’s. “Wow. I wondered why there name sounded so familiar” said Anita. “What do you mean mom” Chris asked questionably. “Do you remember when we used to visit grandpa? And how their always used to be a little girl there with her mom and pa” Anita asked. “Oh now I remember. I remember them. Her parents used to call her A. But she didn’t have a brother” Chris said. “Actually she did. He just never went anywhere with his parents” Anita said. “I wonder why” Chris said wondering.
Chapter Four the Weird Dream
After that she went to her room and got ready for bed her mom and dad came up and said goodnight. That night Chris had a weird dream about a door just standing in a field. The area around it looked familiar. Then Chris woke up all of the sudden I know where the door is at it’s at the Daily’s farm. The rest of the night Chris was awake in thought. I wonder wear on the daily farm the door is and if it is there.
The next day Chris walked to the bus stop to wait for the bus. There were about four more kids at the bus stop most of them she didn’t know. The few she did know she had only seen in art class. She knew them as the artist twins. Their real names were Billy and Evan Dodson. Their parents were Bonny and Carson. The twins were about one year younger than Chris.
While waiting for the bus Chris pulled out her drawing notebook. She was trying to draw the door in her dream. What she didn’t know was that the twins were standing behind her watching her every move. Chris noticed a shadow in front of hers that didn’t belong to her she turned around to see who was behind her. “Oh” Chris said. “We are terribly sorry. We were wondering what you were drawing. It is very good” Evan said. “Thank you” Chris said very anode by the boy’s actions. As soon as the bus came around the corner Chris got on it barley letting the door open. She quickly found a seat next to her cousin Lauren and Fred. They were sitting in the front seat behind the driver and in front of two other kids.
Chris thought that this would be a good time to ask Lauren about the door being on her farm. “Lauren have you been all around your farm before” Chris asked a little nervously. “Yes I have. But daddy bought some more land. I haven’t been exploring there yet. But I hope to soon” Lauren replied. “I was wondering have you ever seen a door just standing alone in a field near some rocks on your family farm” Chris asked. “I haven’t seen a door but there is a rocky part on our farm that daddy never lets us go near there. I don’t know why” Lauren replied.
The rest of the way was pretty quiet. Web they got to school it was still early before Chris had to go to math so she decided to walk Fred and Lauren to their math class. She had just dropped them off when she ran into Tammy Fish. “Hey watch it” Tammy said furiously. “I I’m sorry” Chris said apologetically. Just then Tim Anne’s Twin brother came walking down the hallway towards math class. At that moment Tammy walked off in the opposite direction. “Hey Chris. What was Tammy so mad about” Tim asked. “Well I bumped onto her by accident” Chris said shyly. “I better be off to math class. Would you care to join me so that you aren’t late” Tim asked. “While I guess I could walk with you since were in the same math class. If it’s all right with you cousin” Chris said mockingly.
On the way to math Chris asked how Anne was doing. “She’s doing better. She should be able to come to school tomorrow” Tim said. They were a little early for class and the first kids there. They saw Mr. Jim Faye writing down lessons for the day’s math. “Good morning” said Mr. Faye turning around from writing. “Good morning. How did we do in math yesterday?” Chris asked politely. “You know that I can’t tell you till Friday” Mr. Faye said mockingly. Chris and Tim quickly found their seats and while got out his math book Chris Got out her art notebook and finished her drawing. Mr. Faye finished his assignments and walked over to Chris to see what she was doing.
After math was over Chris went to her other classes that were before lunch. As soon as the lunch bell rang Chris gathered up her school books and walked to her locker She put her backpack in the locker and grabbed her art book and colored pencils. She walked to the lunch room to find that Mr. Faye hadn’t come in yet so Chris found a seat in the corner of the lunch room and waited for Mr. Faye to come in. In a few minutes he came in with his lunch box and found the table that Chris was sitting at.
“Well Chris is you ready to tell me about that dream” Mr. Faye asked politely. All right” Chris replied. So Chris started to tell him about how she had had a dream about the door and the conversation on the bus with the Lauren and Fred. “Wow Chris that is amazing. May I see the drawing please” Mr. Faye asked. “Sure. But it’s not finished. I still have a little bit more scenery and then I have to color in the picture” Chris replied a little slowly. “You are a good artist. You see I always wanted to be a artist but my parents were kind of poor so instead I went to school to become a math teacher. I was always good at math so when I did draw it was more architecture than flowers and stuff like that” Mr. Faye said sadly. “You know. It’s never too late to become an architect” Chris said comfortingly. “Do you really think that I could become a architect” Mr. Faye said more enthusiastically. “Yes I really do. I mean I used to think that I wasn’t any good. But know I think I am a good artist” Chris said.
“I think that you should finish your lunch. Oh ya Chris I will be joining the art class today. Mr. Tony asked me to help with some angels and stuff like that” Mr. Faye said. “See you at art class” Chris said laughingly. Mr. Faye got up and went to the teachers table. When he got there his fellow teachers asked him where he had been “I was talking to one of my students about a drawing I saw her work on before math” Mr. Faye said.
Chapter Five: The Amazing Coincidence
While Mr. Faye was at the teachers table Chris ate lunch all alone. To Chris’s surprise Tammy Fish came over to her table. “I’m sorry that I ran into you today. I shouldn’t have blamed you” Tammy said apologetically. “It was my fault to. I wasn’t watching where I was going” Chris replied. “I was also wondering if you wanted to be friends with me” Tammy asked looking down at her shoes. “I would love to be friends” Chris said more enthusiastically. “You don’t mind. I mean after all I did blame you and anode your cousins half to death” Tammy said apologetically. “Well than I guess I could be your friend after all” Chris said. “Thank you very much” Tammy said
After Chris finished lunch she pulled her bible out of her coat pocket then Tammy asked “what are you doing”. “I’m reading my bible. I read it every day at lunch” Chris replied wondering. “While I never really have been to church or read my bible” Tammy said politely. “Would you like to start now”? Chris asked. “Well I don’t know. I mean it would be nice I guess” Tammy replied shyly. “Well why don’t we read John 3:16. It is a really good passage. I think you will really like it” Chris asked. Why not. It would be fun” Tammy said more excited.
For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten son that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. What does that mean to you?” Chris asked. “Well III……” Tammy did not finish but burst into tears. “Oh Tammy I didn’t mean to make you cry” Chris said. “It’s not your fault. I just never understood much and that just touched my heart” Tammy said still weeping uncontrollably. “Would you like to pray” Chris asked not knowing what to do really. “Yes and I think that I would also like to accept Christ” Tammy replied. “Ok” Chris said. They prayed until everyone left the lunch room then finally Tammy said I want to make a call to my mom and dad”. “I think that’s a wonderful idea” Chris replied. “I’ll just be a minute” Tammy said as she was getting up from the table.
When Tammy came back she was smiling “my mom is very proud of me now. I wish she was like that more often”. Just as Chris was about to speak the school bell rang “Oh no I’m going to be late for class. See ya later”. Chris went as fast as she could to get to art class. When she did get there she still saw that a lot of kids were missing well at least I’m not the last one in she thought to herself. Just as she was sitting down Mr. Faye came in and walked over to her desk. “Well Chris at least you’re not late I was just about to go to the restroom and see if any kids were out in the hallways” Mr. Faye said. “Well actually I was talking with Tammy Fish in the lunchroom. And didn’t realize it was so getting so late” Chris replied. “How did you and Tammy become friends” Mr. Faye asked very confused. Chris told Mr. Faye about her experiences that day and what happened at lunch. “Wow. That is a pretty amazing coincidence” Mr. Faye said. “I know” Chris said shyly. Mr. Faye was about to say something when the school bell rang again telling everyone that it was time for class.
Mr. Faye walked up to the desk where Mr. tony was standing Mr. Tony started off with” I hope you all know Mr. Faye. He will be helping us today”. “What did he say” the twins said in unison. That’s right. Dodson boys. You two better be good or he might give you extra math homework” Mr. Tony said. “Fine” the boys said angrily. Mr. Faye came up and whispered something in Mr. Toney’s ear “That is a wonderful idea. Ok class I would like you to come up one at a time and show me you’re most recent drawing. So I think we should start with Chris Anderson. Would you mind coming up Chris” Mr. Tony asked. “Ok” Chris replied shyly. Chris walked up very slowly. She opened her book up but didn’t turn it around. “Chris I promise no one is going to laugh at your drawing” Mr. Faye said in a whisper. Chris was a little unsure about what Mr. Faye said so she slowly turned her drawing around. Wow said the entire class. “Well, well Chris. I had no idea you were so talented” said Mr. Tony. “Thank you” Chris said shyly.
After Chris sat down Mr. Toney called up Evan Dodson. He went up with a piece of paper in his hand. Evan whispered something into Mr. Toney’s ear and then gave him the paper and walked back to his seat. The rest of the class Chris was lost in thought. She wondered to herself “I wonder what Evan gave Mr. Toney”.
Chapter Six: The Secret Drawing
On the bus ride home Chris chose a seat near the window and Evan Dodson came and sat next to her. “Hello, Evan.” Chris said politely. “Hi Chris.” Evan replied. “Art class was a little interesting today.”Chris asked. “Yeah I didn’t even know that Mr. Faye was interested in art.” Evan replied. “Yeah me neither. So I was wondering what you gave Mr. Tony during class.” Chris asked shyly. “Well I gave him a drawing that I did at my house the other day. You see I didn’t want to embarrass myself. You see the drawing was almost the same one as yours except I drew before you.” Evan said a little shyly. “Are you really serious? I mean my drawing was from a dream that I had.” Chris replied excitedly. Yes and I mean I’m pretty sure that I’ve been to that place before also.” Evan said. “You see.” Chris said. “Ever since I was little I have had weird dreams about doors.” “Really, my brother has often had dreams about doors that were carved with old English willow trees and some kind of animal on it. I think that it was probably some kind of lion. You see he made this drawing of it what it looked like. There were also six thrones with crowns lying on pillows on the seats. Maybe if you could come over I could show you the drawings of doors we both have made.” Evan asked. As Chris sat there she wondered what this all could mean. Lions, thrones, willows, and crowns. And the door we all have weird dreams about them. Maybe Saturday would be a good day. “How about on Saturday?” Chris asked. “Sure” Evan replied. “Of course I’ll have to ask my mom. So how about I call you later.” Chris asked. “Sure” Evan said “here’s my phone number: 567-8910.
When Chris got home she went to find her mom to ask about Saturday. She said. “It’s alright with me. But you need to ask Mrs. Bonny.” “Alright mom. I have their phone number on a piece of paper in my back pack.” Replied Chris. Then she went to her room and called the Dodson’s. When the phone picked up on the other end the voice said “Hello, This is Billy.” “Hi Billy this is Chris Anderson.” Replied Chris. “Oh, hi. Would you like to talk to my brother?” asked Billy. “Actually I wanted to talk to your mom.” Said Chris. “O.k.” said Billy. In a few moments the phone was picked up again and Chris talked to Mrs. Dodson about Saturday. And she said that it would be alright to come over whenever.
