Aug. 27, 2008 - The Best Team Ever

This is a story I came across that I wrote three years ago at my home school co-op. I have two of the three coaches again this year, I am very excited. My first game is on September sixth; my team plays eleven on eleven on the biggest fields in the park. I hope you like the story.

 The Best Team Ever

It was August, 2005; just before my first soccer game it was very foggy that morning. I was feeling excited that day before the game and also very nervous.

I had a very good team. I made a lot of new friends. There were a lot of older friends there too there names were Caroline, Dan, and Cory.

My team had three really good coaches. There names were Tom, Paul, and Todd, they were the best coaches ever. My team The Lions had 5 victories and 6 loses. I had an awesome team it was really fun.

I was one of the three goalies for my team. I just barley blocked tons of high shots for my team this season. When I am defending the goal I am one of the best. I can punt the soccer ball really far down the field.

We had a shoot-out because the score was tied at the end of one of the play-off games. I was the goalie in the shoot-out. I was ecstatic that I was in the goal. I blocked four out of five in the shoot-out by diving for the ball.

My team was overjoyed that I blocked the last shot. I felt like the best thing since sliced bread. Then we went to the semi-finals and we lost. I had the best team a kid could have.

Aug. 27, 2008 - Good Stuff

I just found this document that we had written a few years ago; we probably need to add some more things as well. But this is still good quality stuff and definitely a work in progress.

Things I want the kids to Learn

  • love God with  their whole heart
  • love their family
  • know how to help others
  • be happy with what they have and where they are in their life
  • how to look for what ever information they need
  • read a map
  • sign language
  • love for reading
  • love for learning
  • how to use reference books
  • how to teach someone else

Aug. 17, 2008 - House

Our house is moving along. The outside is looking wonderful now. We found some termite damage that is now fixed. I am thankful that we found it while we already had the house torn up. Our old bath room got torn out to make room for the stairs. We now have a new bath, without holes in the walls or leaky parts.

Aug. 8, 2008 - Andrew at Camp

Andrew has been at Boy Scout camp all week. We all really miss him.

Particularly Matthew, he is lost without him. Andrew is Matthew’s hero. One more day and we pick him up.  I bet he will be beat; he did kayaking and rock climbing all week.

Jul. 31, 2008 - Summer

The kids and I went to the beach and explored. We found birds and snails. Matthew later jumped in the water clothes and all!

Jul. 6, 2008 - Working Together

The last time we wrote it was titled slowing down, I guess you all have thought that we have been relaxing and just chilling out. Well that is not exactly true. We have been adding an addition on to our house. We have been working hard on different things. We have had to  empty our shed to fill it up with what was emptied out of the attic. It is amazing what you stick in an attic over 9 years! This week we are tackling the den and master bedroom. The kids are wondering what treasures we may find next. It has been hard work, but it is nice to get rid of some of the clutter.

The pictures are of a mouse family that was living in our shed (Matt is pointing it out for you), our attic with nothing in it,and Sarah sweeping out our shed.

May. 24, 2008 - Slowing down

We are starting to slow down for the summer; we all need a little break. This year has been a busy one. I just want to unwind a bit and have some fun with the kids. For the girls this means craft time, so we joined a craft of the month club (this means that we do at least one a month). For Andrew this means some reading and painting time. Matthew has been busy building lots of things. I haven’t figured out what this sort of down time means for me. We are still keeping up on some school, just much lighter now.
