Several weeks ago Mother Dear was finishing a review for a magazine, and put in the CD to one product called The Aleph Bet Story by Sarah And David. As you may have guessed or already know we get the name for our set of letters in English, the Alphabet, as a derivative from the name of the Hebrew set of letters: The Aleph Bet. I’ve also been just confused at how people learn different languages, but the confusion is lessening, I think. Within the last week especially we’ve really been looking into and listening to the Hebrew Aleph Bet, and it is quite fun.
Hebrew reads right to left where as English reads from left to right so that is something quite different, and also the letters have their own names, but different sounds. Like the letter for the sound B is Bet, and to make words with vowels like “back” you don’t add another letter for the A sound. Instead you add a sign beneath the B letter. Before you can even begin all that, though, you have to know which Hebrew letters go with the sounds and names…. that’s what I’m working on.
Here is one song we found on YouTube that has been really helpful in learning the sounds and signs of the letters. There are 22 letters main letters in the Aleph Bet, which this song will show you. It’s quick, but after listening to it 20x you should be able to sing-a-long and say the letters (haha, excuse the note at the end).
There are many other, perhaps less exciting and kiddish, videos on YouTube to listen to and many websites you can look at to help you learn the sounds, signs, and names of the Hebrew Aleph Bet. We also found a few songs from the Prince of Egypt film in the original Hebrew, which was very interesting. It sounds beautiful! Mother Dear posted those on her blog.
There’s no J sound in the Hebrew Alphe Bet. Instead it’s a Y sound - like Jesus is Yeshua. Today I was looking around Facebook, and found how to translate my name into Hebrew. You can find yours here. Make sure you tell me what it is.
I am currently working on a special project that I am not quite ready to announce. I know you will all want to get behind us when we do unveil it, so if you could start with prayers, that would be great!
We are getting the template on the site going and setting up the Mission and legalities and trying to think of all we need to do, so prayers for discernment and all of that to go smoothly would be great!
I am so proud of Rachel. She is such a sweet girl! She is a hard worker, a great cook and keeps us happy with hot coffee and sweet treats. She delights in the WORD and serving her family. She is a true follower of Jesus!

I have started a "Tag Blog". Why? I get more tags then I know what to do with! I had, at one point, 4-6 tags! I have other things I want to post about here, so I will tell you when I post a tag there. I might still post some tags here, but for now I must go.
God bless!

BTW,Sarah did have her birthday,I will update about that later.
Yesterday for a fun change of pace we wrote
letters to Santa for our handwriting and journal
writing practice. The littlest one dictated ....
Spirit
(when asked what he wants for christmas he says..)
A train and a tractor with a wagon and hay bails.
Superboy Wrote..
Dear. Santa,
I want a puppy and a car that drives on the
ceiling. That's all I want for Christmas.
(we rent and are not allowed to have a puppy.
He has asked for this for so long now. )

Dear Santa,
I don't want much just a digital camera that could be
the color of pink, blue or purple. I want to get the
sisterhood of the Traveling pants 3 movie and
High school musical 3. Anything with High school
musical on. It is okay if I dont get it .
I don't know how those of you who live in the northern states (anything above SC) deal with a long cold season. Today's high is supposed to be 49. That's sweltering to some of you I'm sure (Jane). I, however, wish there was a shopping service that I could call up with my grocery list! Doesn't anyone deliver groceries to those of us who shut ourselves in our homes once the temperature gets below 65 degrees?
So far, Noah hasn't gotten sick. Hannah, Matthew, Timothy, David, and Sarah did get sick, but they are finally feeling better. They all got sick within 48 hours of when Mary Faith and I got sick, so by tomorrow morning I'm thinking we should be in the clear if no one else gets sick in the night. Looks like Sarah will be having a great birthday tomorrow!!
William has a cast iron constitution and never gets sick, but Jeff and Noah staying healthy can only be the result of divine intervention. Noah gets everything, and Jeff did so much cleaning up after sick little ones that he was thoroughly exposed. (Yes, you read that right. Mr. Amazing Husband was worried that I might get reinfected and get sick again, so he insisted that I stay in bed with Mary Faith all Saturday night while he got up with sick children over and over and over. Every time he got up I prayed that God would protect him and bless him for his faithful servant's heart.)
Now Mr. Amazing Husband wants to get in bed and watch Wallee (is that how you spell it??) so I need to go. :-) He rented it for the children to watch once they were at that stage where they were feeling somewhat better but were too tired and weak to do much. They laughed all of the way through it and said it was great, so I promised Jeff to watch it with him.
Well, it’s here. December 2008. Wow, can you believe it? Only another 31 days and then it will be 2009, a new year, a new chapter. Growing In Grace Magazine just published their 11th issue for the month of December, and you will want to check out some of the great articles…. interview, reviews, giveaways, tutorials, education, and spiritual encouragement in December 2008.
I had a lot of fun making the sewing tutorial for one of my columns in GGM, and it took very little money, time, or skill. There were a total of three supplies, three snips, and three seams. I think it turned out so cute and is a lovely winter accent to our home for the winter months. It’s not just for “looks” either… it has a purpose and can help with heating-expenses. Read about the Door-Warmer AND how to make your own in my article at GGM: Portfolio de Couturier: Door Warmer
I imagine perhaps next year I will do one for autumn as well. There are so many fabrics to choose from for seasonal purposes. Making one that matches your bedroom would be so cute.
Celebrate National Handwriting day
by writing a letter to our new Commander in
Chief. If you use Handwriting without tears
you might want to stop by their site to learn
about the new writing to the president
campaign. All handwritten letters will be delivered
to the president on January 25th. Stop by
the HWT site to find out all about it. There is
also writing paper for download for this project. www.hwtears.com/handwritingday
Our family loves the books of J.R.R. Tolkien, especially "The Lord of the Rings" Trilogy. An Entmoot is a gathering of Ents (Shepherds of the Trees) to discuss issues. We thought this was a wonderful word picture to describe our zany family.
