Feb. 24, 2009 - "So long...farewell..."
Hi everybody!!
This is just to let you all know that, as of tomorrow, I will not be on homeschoolblogger.com for a long, long, time. I'm not leaving, exactly; at least, not permanently. But as you probably know, tomorrow's Ash Wednesday [for Catholics; I don't remember if other Christians celebrate that day], and we Catholics have a tradition of giving up something, as a sacrifice to God, for Lent [the time from Ash Wednesday to Easter]. So, part of my sacrifice this year is giving up computer. I spend WAY too much time online and whatnot, so I'm giving it up totally; except for my writing, of course, email and one or two websites, and those last only on Sundays. So you won't be seeing/hearing from me at all until Easter. I'm going to miss you guys. :( But it'll be for the best, I believe, and it will be a pleasing sacrifice to God.
Pray for me. I'll pray for you all.
God bless, and see you on Easter.

Feb. 21, 2009 - Oh, this and that
Heylo everybody!!
Guess what I got today??
THE NARNIA SOUNDTRACK IN PIANO MUSIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Here 'tis [sorry about the cut-offs on the side of the pictures, the book couldn't quite fit onto the scanner]:

Front

and Back
As you can see, it's rather limited...it doesn't have any of the really exciting songs like "The Battle", and some of the songs they butcher in half [grr...]; but it's still really, really AWESOME! I ordered the three Lord of the Rings song books too, so I have to go pick them up from the store in a couple weeks. SO EXCITED!!!!!
Anyways.
That's my big broo-hah-hah. Wish me luck in learning the music!!
God bless y'all!!

THE STORY TAG
Here are the rules: This is a story tag, whoever is tagged with it has to continue the next part of a very short story.
I'll only tag one person so the story can stay just one story and not split of into different ones. I'm picking up after "He decided to go see what the noise was when....."
One day there was a great hill with a castle on top, and some children were having a picnic at the bottom of the hill, when a great seagull, for the hill and the castle and the children were by the sea, swooped down and snatched someone's sandwich and flew off up into the air. This particular seagull was a hungry bird named Andre. He was always looking for food, for that was the only thing he enjoyed, and he knew when he saw the red-and-white checkers on the ground, there was always food on it. Andre flew around the castle when he was suddenly swept backwards by a sudden gust of wind. He flailed wildly about trying to gain a safe landing, but it was of no use. With a sickening thud, Andre hit the side of the castle wall. He struggled up to his feet and looked around for the sandwich, but was surprised to see a little girl with curly, light brown hair, and a sweet smile. She looked at the bird for a moment, and then turned and ran up the hill. She disappeared when she got near the Castle. He did notice that the girl was holding something as she ran. Thinking it was the sandwich, he flew after her. When he got to the Castle, he looked around for the little girl, but to his disappointment she was no where to be found. Then he heard a noise from behind the castle. He decided to go see what the noise was when a fearsome cat with bristling whiskers and a great rowr came bounding from out of nowhere, seemingly. Andre, being the brave and strong bird he was (and also very angry from having an empty stomach), squawked and beat at the cat with his wings. The cat was shocked to be affronted with such a sudden attack, and backed up a few steps. Andre boxed him fine as a kangaroo. Being only a bird, however, he soon grew tired and flew up onto one of the many ramparts of the Castle. There he shook his tail at the growling cat and smoothed his disheveled feathers. As he was preening himself, something just inside the Castle's gate caught his eye, and turning his head to get a better look, he saw...
I tag Pip!! Enjoy!

Feb. 11, 2009 - I am da PROCRASTINATOR
The title says it all.
*stands up tall with dark glasses like the Terminator*
*says in a monotone, deep voice* I'll be back.
Hahaha, not really, I just wanted to say that.
The Terminator line "I'll be back" goes SO well with the title
"the Procrastinator" and Terminator and Procrastinator
sound so much alike that I couldn't resist. :P
I know, I know, I'm really giddy. But I really am the procrastinator.
I'm going to my friend's house today for her birthday,
and I have to get her a present still;
I was supposed to wash a load of much-needed clothes days ago and I haven't yet;
the guinea pig cages are still uncleaned; and I have to do school work before I go.
Gaa...
Luckily I got a good sleep last night, so I think I can deal with all of this.
Unlike the night before, when I fell asleep but
woke up in a sweat an hour later and had to go downstairs to sleep.
The reason? Stinkbugs. Yes, stinkbugs. The nasty little creatures.
So I was sitting on my bed, getting my Latin books together to go
downstairs and work on Latin, and I was just kinda daydreaming
and taking my time; when all of a sudden I hear a "PHHHHHHT"
and a bug lands in my hair. Naturally I panicked,
jumping around the room and screaming. I hoped it was a ladybug,
because I don't mind those little critters at all;
but when I examined the floor to find out what bug I had knocked out of my hair,
it was a stinkbug. *shudders* They give me the willies, seriously.
I was terrified to see that they had found where I lived at last.
They always held a grudge against me for despising them so passionately.
I could NOT bring myself to kill the thing [for I knew it would stink and
just the thought of squeezing the guts out of its brown,
gropey, spidery, crawly, disgusting little body made me sick],
so I ran out of the room, and demanded that my dad go vacuum it up.
Unfortunately, he had to go take my brother to
Driver's Education or something, so he couldn't;
and when he got home later and searched for the bug,
it had disappeared. So of course I couldn't sleep that night
because I imagined a stinkbug landing on my arm,
and I sat up in bed and brushed "it" off; that's why I was in a
sweat and I had to sleep downstairs. It sounds crazy, I know,
but if you've ever encountered a stinkbug, or know of one
lurking in a dark corner of your room, waiting to attack...
you know what I mean.
Well, after that narration, I'd better go get the stuff done
that I need to get done.
"I've got to start acting more sensible...tomorrow."
(that's Snoopy, by the way, but it applies perfectly to me)
Have a blessed day in Christ Jesus!!!

Feb. 6, 2009 - This is exactly what I need...
Greetings!!
Wow, I'm bushed...I just came back from accompanying a choir (yeah, YIKES), and driving around a mall with my mom, shopping. Ugh. Luckily, she didn't have to get much, so it wasn't as grueling as it could be. I got the coolest little prayer book though; it's for young people, and is SO awesome.
Speaking of which, today at church, we had the most encouraging, heartwarming, and tender reading. From the Letter of Paul to the Hebrews:
"Let brotherly love continue. Do not neglect hospitality, for through it some have unknowingly entertained angels. Be mindful of prisoners as if sharing their imprisonment, and of the ill-treated as of yourselves, for you also are in the body. Let marriage be honored among all and the marriage bed be kept undefiled, for God will judge the immoral and adulterers. Let your life be free from love of money but be content with what you have, for he has said, I will never forsake you or abandon you. Thus we may say with confidence:
The Lord is my helper,/ and I will not be afraid./ What can anyone do to me?
Remember your leaders who spoke the word of God to you. Consider the outcome of their way of life and imitate their faith. Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever." (13: 1-8)
Isn't that just...powerful? Amazing? Comforting? It describes our world SO well today, and what we need to do: "Let brotherly love continue" and "Let marriage be honored among all" and "let your life be free from love of money but be content with what you have"-doesn't that just SHOUT to our world? And then God's words to us "I will never forsake you or abandon you" and our reply "The Lord is my helper...what can anyone do to me?" and the words "Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever" really strike me. They comfort me exceedingly, during this troubled time. May they be light to you in this world of darkness and sin as they were to me. Thank you God.

Feb. 2, 2009 - What exactly is the point of a title?
Hello everybody!!
Gosh, it's been awhile, eh? So, what exactly do I have to talk about? -oh yes. First the March for Life. It was AWESOME!! There were SO many people there!! And the speeches at the rally were just amazing!! They were all directed respectfully but firmly to President Obama, and boy do I wish he had heard them. I didn't enjoy the March as well as I could have, because it took FOREVER to start the March and I had a headache for half the day, but it was wonderful. [We also went to the Capitol building before the rally, but it was a total bust because we didn't get to see anything interesting and they made us throw away our food, so it's not worth talking about. ;)] We stayed with my aunt and step-uncle, first in their apartment in Washington, and then in their house in West Virginia, on the way home. It was SO lovely in West Virginia, where they live!!! There were hills and lovely woods, and creeks, and fresh air, and warm sunlight, and it was gorgeous!! I wanted to stay there for a week. Sadly, we only stayed one night, but it was still great. :)
Now, about the award I received, from godzwilla; thank you, girl, it ROCKS!!! It's so sweet!!! Here 'tis:
BOO-YAH!!!! Isn't it grand?! So now I award....hmm...um...well, since I know SO many awesome blogs, I can't award them all, so I'll just nominate two: Halfling and sharla88!! Enjoy!!
Guess what I did Saturday? I slept over at my friends' house Friday and Saturday night, and because we are all SUPER, DIE-HARD, Tolkien/LOTR freaks, we watched ALL THREE, EXTENDED VERSIONS of the LOTR movies all in one day, on Saturday. Yeah. We started at 9:30 in the morning and got finished about 11:00 at night. I was zonked. [And still feeling the effects! :D] But it was AMAZING!!!!! I had SO much fun!!! We all said afterwards, when we were going to bed, that we felt like we just stepped out of a long and lovely dream, or came back into our world from Middle-Earth. We all seriously felt like we were there, the whole time; and I have to say it was rather a shock to come back to our world. I wonder if that's something like what the Pevensies felt...
Anywho, I gotta go eat some breakfast, so toodledeedoo!!!
God bless,
Eowyn
